The Rarest and Most Expensive PlayStation Games

The Rarest and Most Expensive PlayStation Games

While you might be aware that retro games have increased in price, it can be surprising just how much. Most people have seen NES and SNES games continue to become more popular, but even more surprising is that your original PlayStation games might actually be crazy valuable. While the console itself is rather readily available, some of the games might just shock you. Some of these games are expensive because they had such a limited release, while others are this way because of their popularity.

Whatever the reason for their increase in value, it is rather exciting to know that some of your old games could actually be rather pricey. Many of us feel very nostalgic when we think back on some of our favorite games, and would honestly love to be able to play them once again. So if you’re looking into purchasing an old console once again, you might want to know which games will be a bit out of your reach- unless you are willing to drop some serious cash.

NBA Elite 2

This is likely the rarest PS3 game ever created, since its official release was cancelled. Somehow a box was accidentally shipped meaning that only a few copies were released into the world. The game was cancelled because it did poorly during the demo release, but it was too late when some had already been shipped to stores. Because of this incredibly low release amount, the game is ridiculously valuable- even though it wasn’t revered as a great game. It can sell for over $9,000 to the right buyer who simply wants to collect something this rare.

While most of the games on this list are specific to PS1, we decided this specific game for PS3 was worth mentioning simply because of its sheer value.

Suikoden 2

Since the initial release of this game wasn’t entirely a smash hit, it become valuable because of the small number released. Since it has actually become a highly recommended RPG game more recently, the value has increased and Suikoden 2 can sell for over $300 in good condition.

Valkyrie Profile

Since this game has grown in popularity with RPG fans, it has become more valuable. It is difficult to find this game now unfortunately, which makes it even more expensive when you do get lucky enough to find it for sale. There has been a rerelease for PSP, but that only causes the original to climb in value since interested for the retro version has become more apparent. Used versions sell for close to $200, while any unused copies can sell for almost $500.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne

Serving as a prequel to the Mega Man Legends games, this one is wildly different than what would be expected. It has many different styles within the levels, some puzzle centered, action centered and other various themes. This game continues to rise in value rather rapidly, selling for over $300 if the condition is right.

Final Fantasy VII (Black Label)

While this game has a decent amount of copies made, it is still rather valuable. Finale Fantasy is always a pretty popular game so copies are not always difficult to find. While it might not be incredible rare, it is certainly very valuable for a PlayStation game. This game can sell for $300 used but above $500 if found brand new in mint condition.

Tomba

While this isn’t the most popular game, especially during its initial release, it has developed somewhat of a cult following. With fans who enjoy the game itself spreading the news about its awesomeness, it has begun increasing in value and rather rapidly. It can sell for almost $200, in some cases even higher because it is not easy to actually find.

Tactics Ogre

This game receives high praise from RPG style fans, and is continuing to increase in value. It was originally released in Japan but was released for PS1 in the US. While it continues to grow it can currently sell for around $100 used online.

Diablo

While Diablo is much more popular on the PC, it still created such a fanbase that many people still want to purchase the PlayStation version. The action role-playing sequence is definitely something that many fans are obsessed with, since Diablo has a challenging and otherworldly surrounding. It can sell for around $80 used but up to $200 brand new and sealed.

Lunar Silver Star Story Complete

This game can sell for close to $200 online and continues to climb in value. Since it wasn’t extremely sought after during its initial release, the game didn’t have that many copies made. It is now a somewhat popular game with fans, making it a relatively valuable PS1 game.

The Most Expensive and Rarest Funko Dorbz Figures

The Most Expensive and Rarest Funko Dorbz Figures

While many Funko collectors might have found themselves initially drawn to the glory that is Pop figures, they aren’t the only adorable creations by the Funko designers. There are also other lines such as mystery minis or the awkward yet ridiculously cute Dorbz figures. The Dorbz are similar to Pops in the sense that they have those oversized heads and unique quirky appearance, but they also have rather different squinted shut eyes and a rounded body. The design is something that some collectors adore, and others find a bit odd. While not everyone is obsessed with these little Funko figures, there are still plenty of them that are wildly expensive.

Many collectors find themselves wanting to branch out and explore different lines. Sometimes this can become a bit pricey though, especially when your original collection already takes up much of your time, space and money. The 8 Most Expensive and Valuable Pokémon Cards

The 8 Most Expensive and Valuable Pokémon Cards

If you enjoy feeling nostalgic for simpler times, then you will love reminiscing about the days when Pokémon Cards were your biggest obsession. It was truly a great pastime, trading your cards in the playground and trying to snag your favorite holograph from your friend. Back then it was just fun to collect and trade Pokémon Cards, most of us not at all aware of how much money those simple and somewhat flimsy little items could be worth. Now might just be the time to go digging out your old collection if you still have it, because some of your cards could actually make you somewhat wealthy.

It seems absurd to imagine that something you grew up collecting could actually become extremely valuable.  It really is true that people are purchasing these rare cards for some incredibly high prices, making them sincerely valuable and not just “fake” pricey. You might be able to pull out that old collection and find that your favorite card is actually worth thousands of dollars, especially if it has been kept in good condition. What some people don’t know is that Pokémon cards are just like comic books or any other card really, in the sense that it is valued even higher if it has been officially graded and meets a rather high grade. Whenever a card is proven to be in great condition and kept in that pristine shape, it certainly increases its market value. Here are some of the most valuable and insanely expensive Pokémon Cards on the market.

Holographic Shadowless First Edition Charizard

Let’s face it, most of us loved our Charizard card. It was the favorite of many, but if you had this specific error card you could be rolling in the dollar bills. This specific error card is missing the shadow on the right side and is rather noticeable, the error was fixed quickly making this specific edition extremely rare. It can be valued at close to $12,000, making it one of the most insanely expensive Pokémon Cards on the market.

Holographic Shadowless First Edition Mewtwo

Another Pokémon that fans adore, mostly because of its rarity- this shadowless error card can be worth around $1,500. Not as exorbitant as the shadowless Charizard, but still rather valuable- this Mewtwo is certainly a card that would be exciting to find tucked away in your old collection. With just that slight error it makes it incredibly valuable, and rather rare.

Shining Charizard

While most holographs picture the background holographic and shining, this one is a bit different. Charizard himself has a holograph glimmer, making it an extremely rare and unusual card to acquire. It can be worth over $3,000 if it is in good condition and the right buyer can be found.

Holographic Shadowless Venusaur

Venusaur has always been a rather coveted trading card, but even more so in its holographic form. Back in the day collectors were always hunting for this illusive card, which makes the shadowless version incredibly valuable. It can sell for well over $6,000 if it is in good condition, making it a rather prized possession.

Prerelease Raichu

This card is rather illusive and more than anything the details of it are rumored. There is said to be only 10 released and they were meant to have an official prerelease stamp on the back. The value is hard to really place with such a minimal amount ever made, making it well into the high thousands for those who decide to sell, making them the controllers of the market on this Raichu.

Charizard First Edition

While the value of this card depends entirely on its condition, it can sell for close to $1,000 on the market. Of course most first edition cards are some of the more valuable ones, and are also some that collectors might be lucky enough to find in their collections. Unlike some of the incredibly rare cards, these aren’t just a pipe dream.

Shiny Espeon

This is considered an extremely rare card, which is why it can sell for almost $2,000 online. It is hard to find and any collectors willing to spend that much certainly snag them up when they can. While it isn’t one that most older collectors would find in their collection in the attic, it still deserved a spot on this list simply for its value and incredible rarity.

Trainer Cards

Given out at events for the winners, these cards are certainly rare and the epitome of being a Pokémon fan. It is hard to label a price tag on these, because they range depending on the level, no.1, 2 or 3. They can sell for thousands of dollars, and are definitely some of the absolute rarest and most valuable Pokémon cards you will see.

While you might not have some of these extremely valuable cards stored away, that doesn’t mean you cannot make a few hundred extra bucks on some other first editions. There are plenty of cards that can be valued decently if they are harder to acquire, which is why sifting through might just be worth the gander. The condition is always important of course, since no one wants to pay top dollar for a card that is torn with bits of hot sauce stained on the side. If you do have your old cards in good condition though, it is certainly worth doing a little online research to see if they might make you some extra cash. It seems that even though Pokémon was most popular years ago, it is an obsession that never really died out. With young fans arising daily, it is definitely popular for a reason- especially with nerd culture continuing to become more of a popular vision.

The Most Expensive Marvel Comic Books Ever Sold

The Most Expensive Marvel Comic Books Ever Sold

Many people who are interested in nerd culture, find themselves drawn to comic books. Whether they grew up obsessed with the action filled storylines, or they become acquainted with the hobby at an older age- comics books can open readers up to a whole new world. There are also some incredibly high priced comic book releases, often these are the first appearances of certain famed characters Some of these comic books can be incredibly expensive now, especially depending on the condition they are. Comic books decrease in value if they are creased or not in their original pristine condition, and so they often have to be appraised and given a number out of 10 showing their condition and ultimately their value. This is why it can be difficult to actually catalog a list of the most valuable comic books sold, since the value will increase or decrease based on the condition of the comic book itself.

It is important to understand that some of these issues would be even more valuable if a higher grade popped up. Even the slightest 0.2 increase can more than double the price value of the comic book issue. Having that little bit of an upgrade in condition definitely makes a huge difference in the amount of money that sellers can obtain from their comic sale.

Amazing Fantasy  #15 9.6- $1,100,000

The first appearance of Spider-Man is certainly going to be a desirable comic, as his popularity has only continued to rise over time. Most people who are Marvel fans find themselves adoring their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, making this an incredible expensive comic. At well over a whopping 1 million dollars, this is one of the most valuable comics on the market. A big reason it is so valuable is because it has such an amazingly high grade, with this specific copy being so incredibly well preserved.

X-Men #1 9.8 $490,000

The first in the X-Men series this is certainly a highly valuable comic issue. Of course having been sold with such an incredibly high rating, the specific 9.8 copy definitely did well at action and will continue to do so. Most Marvel fans truly love the X-Men series, and a collector being able to obtain the first issue is quite the rare find. While it certainly costs a lot of money to acquire such a rare and incredible issue, any collector who can afford it would be ecstatic to get their hands on one.

Tales of Suspense #39 9.6- $375,000

The first appearance of Iron Man is certainly a desirable issue, but has increased over time. Initially Iron Man wasn’t all that popular, and has become quite the obsession since Robert Downy Jr. playing the live action role. Having him in the films has definitely caused the first appearance of Iron Man to become an incredibly valuable and desirable issue.

The Incredible Hulk #1 Graded 9.2- $326,000

The first appearance of the Incredible Hulk in 1962 has certainly continued to rise in attraction over recent years. With the higher grade copies selling for over $300,000! So many more have continued to show up on market since the initial sales of those high grade comics, making it one of the most popular and most desirable editions right now.

Captain America Comics #1 9.2- $300,000

With the origin and first appearance of Captain America this comic can sell for extremely high prices depending on the rating. Even a poorly graded copy will sell for upward of $15,000. This is certainly a valuable comic, even if some people have negative feelings about the storyline. There is many backlash that Captain America received, but that does not change how incredibly valuable the first appearance can be.

Marvel Comics #1 9.0- $300,000

This issue includes the first appearance of the Human Torch and the Angel, and was the first issue created by the company that would later be known as Marvel Comics. The issue would sell for much higher but the highest grade seen is a 9.0. If there were higher graded issues on the market they would certainly continue to double in value, and become one of the most valuable issues available.

The Avengers #1 9.6- $274,000

The first appearance of the Avengers is certainly a valuable comic but of course it ranges based on the rating. The lowest is seen as around a $500 value but it can be much higher selling for close to $300,000 with a higher rating. Again when the rating decreased by even 0.2 it almost cuts that value in half, showing just how important the condition of the comic really is.

After seeing this list it might just be time to pull out your old comics and discover if you have anything truly valuable. You might be surprised by which ones have gone up in value and can be appraised to resell for quite the incredible amount of money.

This is a truly incredible sculpture, representative of the incredible and magical Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom.

Charlotte Clark Mickey and Minnie Mouse Dolls ($150,000)

Any Plush collectors will be shocked to hear about these pieces, certainly the most valuable and unattainable of all. Minnie is actually wearing a silk dress with real pearl buttons, a part of what makes these even pricier. They were display dolls from the 30’s and sold at auction for quite the astronomical price. While they are amazingly crafted pieces of Disney history…am I the only one who thinks they’re a tiny bit frightening?

Mickey Mouse and Goofy Comic Strip ($250,000)

Anyone who collects comics knows just how insanely pricey they can become, and this 1956 comic is certainly up there in value. It seems a bit astronomical, but when something is so old and rare, it is hard to argue the price on something so phenomenal.

Signed The Art of Walt Disney Book with Mickey and Donald ($300,000)

This piece is so valuable because while both Mickey and Donald are beloved characters, they were rarely sketched together in this way. Also signed by Walt it is an exceptionally valuable and desirable item for Disney fans. It is well worth the price, but let’s face it so is a house…

The Band Concert Film Celluloid ($420,000)

This film was released in 1935 as the first time Mickey ever appeared in color, which only aids to it’s incredible value. It sold for this price in 1999, to a fan who clearly wasn’t afraid to pay the big bucks for a piece of Disney memorabilia exclusively owned by them. While it seems absurd to purchase an item like this for such an astronomical price, it only goes to show just how obsessive Disney fans can be. Imagine having this in your collection? It certainly would be a piece to brag about, and something that is one of a kind.

Celebration Mickey ($4,000,000)

Well worth its weight in gold (100 pounds of it to be exact), this piece is likely the most phenomenal and pricey Disney item. The price tag is incredible high, but the value seems about right considering that it is made of 24k gold. This was created for Disney’s 100 birthday, and is certainly the most shocking item on this list. While it seems absurd for something to be so valuable, it also makes sense all things considered. This huge golden Mickey is certainly the Mickey to beat all Mickeys. The most expensive and shocking item on this list, the Gold Celebration Mickey takes the cake.

While some of these items seem a bit absurd, they are valued because of their rarity and extravagance. Disney has never been known for its subtlety, so these incredible collectibles are actually rather fitting. For any true Disney fanatic, just looking at some of these items is enough to make your jaw drop. While many of us could never imagine to obtain one of these pieces, we can certainly enjoy admiring them from a distance. The rest of us will stick to our Funko Pops and pins, but that doesn’t mean we don’t find ourselves in complete awe of the beauty. So many amazing Disney items have continued to climb in value, which is actually comforting in some ways. We can connect with one another over out mutual obsession towards the Mouse that started it all.

The Best Ways to Display Your Funko Pop Figures

The Best Ways to Display Your Funko Pop Figures

While there is a constant battle of whether to keep Pop in their box or outside of it, there are more pressing display matters. If you collect Pops it can be challenging to find a way to actually display them, instead of just piling them on top of one another awkwardly. The more Funko Pops you gets, the harder it becomes to keep them organized and displayed in a fashion that actually pleases you. When you invest this much time and money into collecting you want to be sure you can fully enjoy you collection. In order to really relish in the beauty that is your Funko Pop collection, you want to be sure that they are really showcased properly. Here are a few amazing display ideas, along with some tips that can make your collection look amazing.

While some of these ideas can be challenging for some, others are extremely simply and only require a quick online purchase. Some of us can get a bit lazy when it comes to our displays, since it takes a lot of energy to figure out how to really make our Pops look fantastic. In order to help you we decided to give a few ideas and examples of some of the most creative and best looking Funko Pop displays available. Having an idea of what you want can be a great way to motivate yourself to put together that shelf you really want.

Shadow Boxes

These boxes are originally made for displaying sports memorabilia, for example signed baseball bats. While the intent is not really for Funko Pop figures, they look amazing in these displays. This is more ideal for out of box collectors since the figures only fit inside without their box. It can also be a great way to display both in and out of box Pops, by placing the out of box ones inside and a few in box Pops on the top of the display. It can certainly be a cool way to make your figures stand out, as long as you are comfortable displaying some out of their boxes. The great thing is it keeps them protected behind the glass, and you can store your boxes somewhere safely and keep the value the same.

Zig Zag Displays

These displays are some of my favorites, since they can really give you plenty of options. You can display your Pops nicely in your box, or nicely without them. The boxes fit nicely along the shelf and you can even double up on the top layers. It gives you more space than just a single shelf, and allows for a unique shape that draws attention to your favorite figures.

Black Light Displays

These displays are perfect for glow in the dark or certain colors Pops, and gives them a real center of attention display. It can be difficult to put this together the way you like, but once you get everything just right it really makes for a gorgeous display. Many figures look nice with a good light above their shelf, since it helps them stand out much more than usual.

Behind the Glass Case

Glass cases can be a really nice and fancy looking way to put the spotlight on your figures. Finding the right glass case can certainly be challenging, but it keeps your Pops safe from dust and damage, while giving them a gorgeous case to display them in. The look can be brought to life with a little lighting places strategically, but it really is a great and sleek style for collectors.

Layered Displays

Sometimes a simple layered display can really make your Pops stand out just how you’d like. They look similar to the boxes offered at stores like Target, but they increase more in height when they are behind the previous display line. This helps the Pops stand out instead of having some in front of the others. These displays can often be purchase online, or can even be made yourself if you are handy enough. It can seem like a simple idea, but placing them strategically can be an easy and great way to show off those Pop figures.

Custom Displays

Of course many people are skilled at creating their own custom displays and this is often the most stunning way to showcase your figures. Some people put together a gorgeous backdrop that helps the specific Funko franchise look truly amazing. The great thing is you can research them online by simply typing in Funko custom displays, or looking into some being sold online. People will often give you their skills for a fair price if you are willing to commission the perfect display for your figures. You spend enough on the figures themselves, why not ensure that they are displayed properly?

Whether you want to go with something more detailed, or simply a wall of bookshelves- putting together a nice display is important. In order to really enjoy your figures you want to be able to peer at them in a nice demonstration of their beauty. Spending all of the energy you do finding these Pops and compiling a great collection, you want to be able to enjoy them thoroughly. Putting together one of these awesome displays will really help you relish in the beauty that is your collection.

The 8 Best Disney Video Games

The 8 Best Disney Video Games

Any gaming fan who is also a Disney fan needs to get their hands on some of the best Disney games out there. While Disney might not have created plenty of new versions of these games, some of the best were actually released years ago. For any retro gamers this will be exciting news, since you can begin searching for some of these amazing Disney games for your older consoles. Some are harder to find than others though, but who doesn’t love a little challenge? These are certainly some of the most enriching and enjoyable video games ever created for Disney fans, so keep your eyes open.

Aladdin (SNES/ Sega Genesis)

Another incredible classic Disney game, this might be one of the best released back in its day. It follows the story and every scene if pulled almost directly from the film itself. The gameplay and unique design causes it to remain one of the most popular SNES games. While most fans believe that the Genesis version is far superior because of its improved graphics and addition of a sword to the gameplay- both games were certainly amazing.

The Lion King (SNES)

This might be one of the absolute hardest games ever created, especially with that old school gaming style. The fact that when you lose all of your lives you shoot back to the beginning, is something that always frustrated platers and still does for some of us retro gamers. Replaying this game is one of the most incredibly nostalgic feelings for any older Disney fans, and is certainly something I recommend if you played this as a kid. It is still a phenomenal game, with the music and surprisingly bearable graphics, it gives you the story of Simba as he grows up and you actually feel like you are a part of the film.

Toy Story (Super Nintendo/ Sega Genesis)

While the graphics might not be phenomenal, the gameplay here is certainly amazing. Taking your favorite Toy Story characters through their world, avoiding the frightening Sid and following the story- makes it certainly an enjoyable experience. I remember playing this as a kid and thinking it was probably the most exciting game created- while the graphics might not withstand the test of time, it was still an amazing game when it was released.

Hercules (PlayStation)

Released for PlayStation many years ago this is one of the all-time best Disney games released. It allowed you to play through the film following the story rather closely and even playing the music as you go along. The gameplay was fun and challenging, and the characters were believable. The graphics in this game were certainly ahead of its time, making it a truly amazing game even to this day. Not only will it be a fun and nostalgic replay for any older Disney fans, but also something that some younger fans interested in retro gaming might enjoy.

The Little Mermaid (NES)

This game is not readily mentioned by fans, as they had currently released plenty of exciting titled. I personally remember playing this game as a child and enjoyed the many puzzle elements involved. For any fans of the Little Mermaid it is a must play game, with challenging boss fights and creative underwater surroundings.

Kingdom Hearts Series

Of course this is one of the most popular Disney gaming series, especially since it continues to create new editions to the series. Fans enjoy being able play in an RPG style game with some of their favorite and most recognizable Disney characters. While it might not be a perfect game it certainly lends a rich and enjoyable experience for any Disney fans.

Epic Mickey (Wii)

With excellent detail and an incredibly story, this is definitely one of the best Disney games ever released. While some fans gripe that it takes much of its gameplay from Super Mario Galaxy, it creates something altogether new. It is truly an incredible game with a story that keeps you completely gripped and eager to see it through to the very end.

The Jungle Book

Made for many different platforms this is definitely a game that fans have to experience. While it might not be the absolute best Disney game ever created, it is one you don’t want to miss out on. It is a fun experience that allows you to play as Mowgli, encountering the many immersive characters from the movie itself.

There are actually many different versions of a Jungle Book game created, all of which are relatively enjoyable games. I recall playing for SNES so that would probably be my personal favorite, but there is definitely joy to be had with other versions like for Gameboy and PlayStation.

Honestly for any Disney fans these are incredible games to enjoy and immerse yourself in the full experience. It gives you that feel as if you were actually a part of these different Disney stores, and often brings us back to a simpler time. I personally enjoyed playing all of these games at some point in my life, and continue to hunt for the classic versions to enjoy presently. Being able to combine your love for Disney and gaming, is certainly something any fan will cherish deeply.
