The 8 Best Disney Video Games

Any gaming fan who is also a Disney fan needs to get their hands on some of the best Disney games out there. While Disney might not have created plenty of new versions of these games, some of the best were actually released years ago. For any retro gamers this will be exciting news, since you can begin searching for some of these amazing Disney games for your older consoles. Some are harder to find than others though, but who doesn’t love a little challenge? These are certainly some of the most enriching and enjoyable video games ever created for Disney fans, so keep your eyes open.

Aladdin (SNES/ Sega Genesis)

Another incredible classic Disney game, this might be one of the best released back in its day. It follows the story and every scene if pulled almost directly from the film itself. The gameplay and unique design causes it to remain one of the most popular SNES games. While most fans believe that the Genesis version is far superior because of its improved graphics and addition of a sword to the gameplay- both games were certainly amazing.

The Lion King (SNES)

This might be one of the absolute hardest games ever created, especially with that old school gaming style. The fact that when you lose all of your lives you shoot back to the beginning, is something that always frustrated platers and still does for some of us retro gamers. Replaying this game is one of the most incredibly nostalgic feelings for any older Disney fans, and is certainly something I recommend if you played this as a kid. It is still a phenomenal game, with the music and surprisingly bearable graphics, it gives you the story of Simba as he grows up and you actually feel like you are a part of the film.

Toy Story (Super Nintendo/ Sega Genesis)

While the graphics might not be phenomenal, the gameplay here is certainly amazing. Taking your favorite Toy Story characters through their world, avoiding the frightening Sid and following the story- makes it certainly an enjoyable experience. I remember playing this as a kid and thinking it was probably the most exciting game created- while the graphics might not withstand the test of time, it was still an amazing game when it was released.

Hercules (PlayStation)

Released for PlayStation many years ago this is one of the all-time best Disney games released. It allowed you to play through the film following the story rather closely and even playing the music as you go along. The gameplay was fun and challenging, and the characters were believable. The graphics in this game were certainly ahead of its time, making it a truly amazing game even to this day. Not only will it be a fun and nostalgic replay for any older Disney fans, but also something that some younger fans interested in retro gaming might enjoy.

The Little Mermaid (NES)

This game is not readily mentioned by fans, as they had currently released plenty of exciting titled. I personally remember playing this game as a child and enjoyed the many puzzle elements involved. For any fans of the Little Mermaid it is a must play game, with challenging boss fights and creative underwater surroundings.

Kingdom Hearts Series

Of course this is one of the most popular Disney gaming series, especially since it continues to create new editions to the series. Fans enjoy being able play in an RPG style game with some of their favorite and most recognizable Disney characters. While it might not be a perfect game it certainly lends a rich and enjoyable experience for any Disney fans.

Epic Mickey (Wii)

With excellent detail and an incredibly story, this is definitely one of the best Disney games ever released. While some fans gripe that it takes much of its gameplay from Super Mario Galaxy, it creates something altogether new. It is truly an incredible game with a story that keeps you completely gripped and eager to see it through to the very end.

The Jungle Book

Made for many different platforms this is definitely a game that fans have to experience. While it might not be the absolute best Disney game ever created, it is one you don’t want to miss out on. It is a fun experience that allows you to play as Mowgli, encountering the many immersive characters from the movie itself.

There are actually many different versions of a Jungle Book game created, all of which are relatively enjoyable games. I recall playing for SNES so that would probably be my personal favorite, but there is definitely joy to be had with other versions like for Gameboy and PlayStation.

Honestly for any Disney fans these are incredible games to enjoy and immerse yourself in the full experience. It gives you that feel as if you were actually a part of these different Disney stores, and often brings us back to a simpler time. I personally enjoyed playing all of these games at some point in my life, and continue to hunt for the classic versions to enjoy presently. Being able to combine your love for Disney and gaming, is certainly something any fan will cherish deeply.
