7 Things Only Disney Fans Will Truly Understand

7 Things Only Disney Fans Will Truly Understand

Being a Disney fan can be a rewarding and sometimes even frustrating experience. When you are an obsessive Disneyphile there are many different things that come with the territory. Sometimes your love makes you very happy, especially when you get the chance to immerse yourself in the magic of Disney. There are other times when you experience things in a way that some of your non-Disney friends just don’t completely understand or appreciate. There is nothing better than having people around you who share the obsession, but sometimes we are drawn to those who are different than others. At times it can be frustrating when others just don’t fully get what you are going through. Here are a few things that only true Disney fans will understand and appreciate.

Wanting Just One More

It always seems like when you are a Disney fan you end up wanting to collect certain things that go along with your obsession. Whether you are wanting to finish your movie collection, your Pop collection, or your pin collection, it never seems to be enough. True Disney fans always feel like they want just one more item, even when you’re living on a budget. Just one more and you will feel sated with your love this week, but that one more never seems to end. You always want to get your hands on that one last item, especially if it is something that is limited edition. Sometimes we try to snag the more difficult items first, but there always seems to be this urgency with collectors. We want to make sure we get our favorite pieces before it is too late and they run out of supply.

Collecting is something that can be frustrating something, especially for the Disney collectors. There is nothing worse than missing out on something we needed for our collection, simply because we thought we would get the chance later on. This can sometimes cause us to jump on these limited items, making it challenging to really keep up.

Spending All of Your Money

As a Disney fan we know there are so many different items to purchase and collect. We want Disney clothing, accessories, collectibles and of course the actual Disney vacations. Any Disney fan who has made it to the most magical place on earth, knows just how expensive this can get. The airfare, the park tickets, the hotels, the food, the merchandise- it can get overwhelming. When you are a Disney lover you often have people looking at you like you are absolutely insane, but you just don’t care. The money is well worth it for us fans, even though we might be eating ramen noodles for a while after the trip. The experiences are something we never let go of, and they stay with us forever. Just being able to enjoy that atmosphere gives you this uplifting feeling which takes you soaring.

People Asking You Why You Want to Go Back to Disney

When you are someone who likes to make multiple trips to your favorite Disney parks, people often have a lot to say about it. The people who don’t fully understand will ask you questions like, “you just went to Disney, why would you want to go back for your vacation?” They don’t fully understand that a true Disney fan would go as often as they can. We seem crazy to those people, we seem like we are wasting our money on a trip that isn’t that big of a deal. In truth Disney is always different, each experience we share there is unique to that time. Plus the fact that Disney changes and they are always trying to add new things to the parks.

Sore Feet

When you do attend the parks you completely understand the pain of having truly sore feet. Without actually experiencing this it seems like an exaggeration, but Disney fans understand. Not only do your feet end up covered in blisters, they ache in ways you never thought possible. Plus the rest of your body aches as well, but honestly it is well worth the pain. The only people who seem to survive this agony are the ones in amazing physical shape, even then you’d have to be a marathon runner to truly get through unscathed.

Having People Get Sick of Your References

When you are a Disney fan you often want to reference your favorite movies a bit too often. People around you can get sick of you comparing them to “cartoon” characters, and frankly they’re sick of the constant references to all things Disney. As a fan you might start to keep these thoughts to yourself so that you can avoid upsetting or annoying your non-Disney friends. It’s nice when you get around other Disney obsessed people, since not only do they understand your references, they actually appreciate them!

The Desire to Listen to Disney Music in the Car

You often get an urge to listen to your Disney music while driving, but your companions might not be so into it. This urge is something that you might only get to really enjoy while alone, but then no one gets to hear you joyful Disney singing. There are also times when you just want to burst into song because someone makes a comment that includes a Disney lyic. There is nothing more rewarding than having someone who actually want to sing along, and who knows the words perfectly.

You Can Get Heated When People Insult Your Favorite Characters

There are times when people who do not appreciate Disney have misinformed ideas about the characters. They make references suggesting that Disney sets bad examples, but as a true fan you know this to be completely untrue. You realize that Disney does quite the opposite, it is something that has gotten you through some of the darkest times in your life. Disney has taught you how to be a better person, and has shown you the person you can become. Having Disney in your life can make you get a bit heated though, especially when people won’t stop attacking it. You get especially annoyed when someone calls Disney “children’s films,” and acts like it is only for kids. These people clearly have not heard the many inappropriate jokes hidden within a Disney film.

11 Amazing Pieces of Disney Fan Art That Will Simply Blow Your Mind

There is plenty of professional Disney inspired artwork out there, but what about the fans creating their own pieces? Ranging from realistic and incredibly detailed, to a more cartoon style- we have decided to compile a list of some of our all-time favorite Disney fan art that will completely blow your mind.

Human Jody and Nick

This humanized version of Nick and Jody from Zootopia, isn’t much of a stretch from the original film to be honest. The film already turns these animal characters into humanlike individuals, so this art simply takes that one step further. Turning these characters into human versions of them is definitely a popular fan art practice, but this piece is by far out favorite. The way it more than captures the look of the characters, but also their spirit, is something challenging to accomplish.

Anna/Elsa

This combo piece shows one side of Anna’s Face and the other side of her sister Elsa’s face. It combines the sisters together in this stunning and complex piece. The artist definitely captures a unique image here, doing an amazing job of combining these two sisters in a beautiful creation. We all know these two sisters are a part of one another, with a bond that withstands curses, evil fiancees, and a frozen heart.

Rapunzel Cartoon

This adorable and fun cartoon style piece is extremely well created. The artist definitely has a way with their craft, and a great sense of humor as well. Anyone who adores Rapunzel will enjoy this colorful and stunning work of art. With Rapunzel reading the Hunger Games, feeling a bit more terrified of what might be outside of her tower- it creates a funny and imaginative non-canon idea of what Mother Gothel might have done to convince the young woman that “mother knows best”.

Villain Art

The artist Kristofer Floyd creates incredible detailed and creative Disney villain fan art with these two amazing pieces. It features Tick-Tock holding onto and toying with the villainous Captain Hook! Another piece shows Prince John and his sidekick Sir Hiss. It is possibly the cutest image ever, but also incredibly detailed and well-done. With such a fun idea and design, it is definitely one of the best pieces of Disney fan art out there.

Buzz Lightyear

This Buzz Lightyear features Buzz drawn in pencil, but has some hidden images inside. Little Sams Art is the artist, and is definitely a talented individual. With all of the little images drawn inside of Buzz, it doesn’t take away from the image as a whole.

Princesses Together!

This image shows the Disney Princesses all laying together with their hair intertwined in a mess of stunning locks. It is definitely a unique design and one that we image took a long time to complete. Lost in a sea of gorgeous hair, each princess sports and adorable expression in their beautifully detailed faces.

Villains

This amazing design was created by DeviantArt’s own Matthoworth. Showcasing five different Disney villains in an incredible and colorful design. Most Disney fans adore the villains, sometimes even more than the good guys. Disney creates some deep and complex baddies, which makes us enjoy watching them. That is another reason why this piece of artwork is definitely one that any Disney fan would adore.

Merida

This breathtaking and colorful piece of artwork bring the beautiful Merida to life. The vibrancy of the colors actually seem to pop out of the picture, causing it to look unbelievably lifelike. With her beautiful red hair taking over much of the picture, and her features definitely capturing that strength and beauty that Merida has- this is one of the most amazing pieces of Merida artwork we have ever seen!

Any Disney fans will enjoy marveling at the beauty and creativity in these amazing creations. There are certainly many more artists out there who know how to put together phenomenal pieces of artwork, and they deserve to be seen!

10 Helpful Items to Pack for Your Disney Trip

10 Helpful Items to Pack for Your Disney Trip

Most of us consider the main items, packing your clothes appropriately, your toothbrush, extra underwear- all of the important things. While we know the basics there are often smaller drug store items that we don’t even consider the possibility that we may end up needing them. These are often things tied specifically to your needs during your Disney vacation, so it is important to consider the uniqueness of your Disney trip.

Many of these basic items because rather expensive once you enter Disney grounds, so it is best to get them beforehand. It becomes a bit of a damper to forget certain items and have to spend a lot of extra money because you cannot go without what you need. Purchasing a few things ahead of time can really benefit you and make your trip much more enjoyable. It can be difficult to think of some of these items before the trip, which is why we have decided to help you by compiling a list of items we find very beneficial.

Band-Aids

It happens, you trip and fall or have some sort of a small accident. Finding Band-Aids on Disney grounds can be harder than you might think. Band-Aids can also be good for covering up those small spots on your feet that begin to rub and get raw. It isn’t a permanent fix but it can definitely help ease the discomfort. It is definitely important to keep some extras in your backpack for when you are at the parks.

Ponchos

People often forget just how much rain you can get at the parks, and oftentimes it isn’t expected. If you have already used your ticket and have entered the park, then it doesn’t matter if it rains. Disney won’t refund your ticket just because of a little rain, so you will have to prepare for those situations. If you are in the Florida park then it is likely the rain will go away after a short time, you just want to be able to keep dry while you wait. Ponchos can also be good for some of the water rides, just to keep yourself a little bit dry. There are often cheap 10-packs that you can purchase, but make sure to buy them before entering Disney. The prices definitely skyrocket for ponchos once you are on Disney grounds.

Blanket

It can be nice to have a blanket that you don’t mind getting dirty, since it can be used to grab a spot for the parades. There aren’t many places to sit when the parades start, so having a blanket to place on the ground can make it more relaxing. Usually you’ve already been doing more than enough standing, so being able to sit down and watch the parade from a relaxing spot, is definitely enjoyable.

Handheld Fan

It can certainly get hot depending on what time of the year you decide to visit Disney. When you’ve been walking in the heat all day it does get a little overwhelming, especially if you aren’t from a warmer climate. Having a battery operated handheld fan with a little water spray, can make all the difference. Just something to give you a little bit of relief from the intense heat is going to be something you appreciate having.

Travel Size Sunscreen

Sunscreen is something most people do think to bring, especially during the summertime. Remember that Disney is located in rather warm climates, especially Disney World. It can be sunny all year round and if you aren’t used that intense level of sun it is important to keep yourself protected. There is nothing more miserable than planning a long trip and getting badly burned your first day. Having a travel size sunscreen to carry in your backpack or fanny pack is definitely a smart move for your vacation comfort.

Moleskin

Hurting feet is definitely one of the biggest dilemmas for a Disney vacation. You spend a lot of time walking even before you make it to the parks, so this is something you have to prepare for. Having comfortable shoes is vital, and having them already broken in is just as important. Even if you do have great shoes, you still might end up with a few blisters and discomforts. Moleskin can be an excellent and helpful way to make your situation a bit more enjoyable.

Anti-Wrinkle Spray

Anti-wrinkle spray for your clothing is definitely a great idea to bring on your trip. Somehow even your nice clothes end up getting all wrinkles and messy between travelling and unpacking. That nice outfit that you have planned for a fancy dinner might end up covered in wrinkles, and having the magical wrinkle spray is a complete lifesaver! Just spray it on and straighten out the clothing, then let it sit for a while and your clothes will look freshly ironed.

Snacks

Snacks for the room can definitely be a great way to make the trip more enjoyable. Just having a few extra energy bars for when you get really hungry and just need something to hold you over, that is certainly going to be something you are thankful for later on.

Medicine

Always bring the right medications, extra if you need to. Having Tylenol for when you end up with a serious headache is going to be beneficial when you see the prices on Disney grounds. Just make sure to consider all of the medications that you might need, including allergy medicine. Bringing extra Benadryl can be important too, since you never know when allergies might become a serious issue and you don’t want to wait to relieve those symptoms.

Anti-Chafe Balm

This is definitely another major issue for most people during their Disney vacation. With all that walking you can end up with extremely painful chafing. This can ruin your entire trip, especially if you seem to have shorts that just aren’t quite long enough to cover the painful areas. Chafing happens to the best of us, but it isn’t something you want to ruin your awesome vacation. Anti-chafe balm can be a lifesaver in these situations.

Funko Pop collectors are always on the hunt for the rare and illusive chase Pop. Some variants are higher than others, making those specific chases even more valuable. We always want to get our hands on the more unique figure, the one that not every collector has a chance to snag. Having a chase just makes you feel like you have succeeded as a collector, and you actually possess something a little more special. Any Disney fans who collects Funko Pops obviously wants to snag as many of the awesome and unique chase variations as they can. While some Pop lines don’t create the best variants, the Disney lines always seem to have the coolest Pop figures. We especially adore the glow in the dark variants, because who doesn’t adore a glow Pop?

Instead of just focusing on the rarest and most expensive chase figures, we decided to give you a comprehensive list of the Disney chase Pops that are available. As a Disney collectors I am personally trying to get my hands on each and everyone one of these glorious variants, but some are a bit more challenging to snag than others. The even more exciting thing is that Funko continues to release new Disney chases, which leads us to believe there is plenty more to be seen just around the corner.

Zero (Glow in the Dark)

This original Zero figure from the Nightmare Before Christmas is definitely one of the most valuable Disney chase variants. It features the adorable Zero but in this variation he glows in the dark! It is a pricey figure and not easy to find, but it is definitely worth the cost.

Zero with Bone (Glow in the Dark)

A later release of Zero includes him carrying a bone, and the chase variant is also a glow in the dark figure. This one was released exclusive to Box Lunch, making it an extremely challenging piece to get a hold of.

Maleficent (Glow in the Dark)

The chase variant of Maleficent was certainly a desirable figure during its release, causing collectors to fight one another for it. No joke…it was insane. This figure is a glow in the dark variant of the regular Maleficent, but she was sold exclusively to Hot Topic. This often makes any figure a little rarer, especially when it has a chase version. It is sold with a more limited number seeing as it cannot be sold everywhere, and many people only have one Hot Topic store close to them.

Aurora (Blue)

This dancing Aurora sports a different dress than the common variant, showcasing the classic color changing scene of Sleeping Beauty. The common figure is Aurora in her pink dress, while the chase version is a blue dress. She isn’t one of the higher valued chases, since she is a 1/6 variant. This only makes it easily for collectors to find one, or maybe purchase it from someone for a fair price.

Red Jafar as Genie (Glow in the Dark)

This chase version of Jafar as a genie is a glow in the dark variant of the common non-glow Jafar. While it might be difficult to get the old Jafar, since he is highly valued at the moment. The chase variant of this awesome genie Jafar is definitely not a low valued figure, but it is still within reach. He is definitely one that hit stores with a bang, with fans obsessively trying to get their hands on this awesome figure.

Hercules (Glow in the Dark)

This is definitely a highly anticipated figure, as fans had previously been waiting for a release of Hercules for some time. Funko decided to make a glow variant of the regular Hercules, making it a super cool chase figure.

Hades (Red)

While this release is exclusive to Hot Topic, the common also glows in the dark. This chase glows but what makes it unique is that it is a red variant of the normally blue Hades figure.

Dopey

This Dopey variant is lacking his hat and has a lipstick mark on his head. This is an iconic scene from Snow White, making it a really unique and cool figure.

Yzma (Glow in the Dark)

This glow in the dark variant is definitely a desirable and awesome villain collectible. Yzma from the Emperor’s New Groove is definitely a popular characters, especially for Disney fans.

Kingdom Hearts 3-Pack (Glow in the Dark)

This 3-pack includes Sora, Goofy and Donald from Kingdom Hearts, and is a glow in the dark version. It was released to GameStop in a mystery box, making it even more difficult to snag the chase version. While it was a 1/4 variant, it still sells for a rather high price, making it a somewhat difficult chase to get your hands on.

Shadow Heartless

This figure is a glow in the dark variation of the common, and is only a 1/6 variant. It isn’t the priciest chase figure, but it is definitely a cool item that many fans would enjoy in their collection.

Tron (Metallic)

This metallic version of the common figure is also a glow in the dark piece. With both a metallic shine and a glow exterior, it is definitely an awesome chase variant.

Sark (Metallic)

This is a metallic variant but also glows in the dark, and had a 1/6 rarity.

Remy (Flocked)

The chase variant of the adorable Remy from Ratatouille, is simply a flocked version. This is actually a really cool way to make a chase, and makes it just a little more special than the common version. Thankfully Remy is not currently a highly valued chase, which means fans can likely get their hands on him without having to spend a small fortune.

Heffalump

This Heffalump chase is simply a purple variant of the regular figure. It is definitely an adorable and thankfully affordable chase.

Dipper Pines (Glow in the Dark)

This glow in the dark variant of Dipper Pines represents a specific episode from the show, which definitely makes it a cool chase figure.

Bill Cipher

This variant of Bill Cipher is a spacey looking version of the originally yellow Pop.

Captain Salazar

This Pirates of the Caribbean chase is a really cool variant because it is almost an entirely different Pop. It is a ghost version of the common figure, and thankfully it isn’t insanely valuable at the moment. This means collectors who desire this super cool figure can likely find it on the market for a decent price.

If you are a beginner in the Disney pin trading world, then you might feel like your collection is a bit weak. Putting together a pin set that you truly adore is something that takes time and effort, but the right helpful information can make the process a bit faster. Pin collecting is something that can be fun and exciting, especially when you get to the parks and can trade and share your collection with others. In order to help you build up your pin collection and learn a few little tricks, we have put together this guide to pin collecting.

Get a Starter Pack

When you are just starting out it can be beneficial and cost efficient to get together a starter pack. Online there are some truly inexpensive pin packs that have a bunch of random Disney pins in them. These are often great for trading, since you can exchange pins that didn’t cost you retail value. They are usually quality pins that are just as nice as the ones you will purchase in stores, but they were likely mass produced so you can get a lot of them in one sitting without having to pay a high price.

You can pick out your favorites that you want to keep in your collection, and save the rest for trading with other collectors or when you finally get yourself over to the Disney parks. Its great not having to pay a high price for pins that you are trading, and you can hopefully snag some awesome pins this way as well.

Check Your Local Shops

Of course there is always purchasing from the various stores that sell Disney items. Places like Hot Topic and Box Lunch sell plenty of really cool Disney pins! They often have exclusive ones that you cannot find anywhere else, which makes it a nice way to get unique pin items in your collection. You can also purchase from these stores online which makes it an easy and fast way to snag a few adorable Disney pins.

Flea Markets

This is something that is surprising to most people, but flea markets are often a great place to find Disney pins. There can sometimes be vendors who have a few extra Disney pins that they are selling for really great prices. You can also find some rare ones sometimes that you would never expect to discover. You just have to keep your eyes open for the right locations and make sure to pay attention. Flea markets really can be gold mines for Disney collectibles, especially when it comes to pin collecting. Do some research and find the best local flea markets, and start looking around for the right vendors who might have the items you are searching for.

Social Media Groups

Checking your local social media groups and marketplaces can be great ways to find awesome Disney pins. There are often groups for specific things, such as Disney pin collectors, pin collectors in general and some other great Disney related groups. This can be a great way to purchase pins, or even trade them with other collectors. Always be smart about your purchases by using Paypal, and try to find ways to make sure the person you are encountering is trustworthy. Many groups have a system that helps to protect traders and buyers so that they aren’t likely to get scammed.

You can also check marketplaces on social media groups and might even get lucky once in a while. There are often people who are looking to get rid of their collections and just want some extra cash. They often cut really good deals for some special pins, so it is best to always keep your eyes open.

Get a Pin Pal

You can also find groups that will set you up with a Pin Pal, who you can send pins back and forth with. It can be even more exciting to connect with someone who lives somewhere entirely different from you, since it helps you get your hands on pins you otherwise wouldn’t have as readily available to you. In different countries Disney releases unique pins, so trading overseas can be a way to get pins you wouldn’t be able to find. Having this connection with someone is both fun and beneficial when it comes to building up your Disney pin collection.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions might not be the absolute best way to get your favorite pins, but they certainly are fun. There are plenty of different Disney pin subscriptions but the Disney Pin of the Month Club seems to be the absolute best. You have different customizable options and the reviews are all positive. If you want to have a surprise pin in your mailbox each month, then it can certainly be a great way to build your collection up.

There are also some collections on websites like the Bradford Exchange, which work somewhat like a subscription, it just isn’t a mystery. You can see the pin collections and will pay a monthly installments and receive a set of four each month. These often come with a beautiful collector’s case as well, making the collection look stunning in its quality enclosure.

Trade at the Parks!

Of course there is the most well-known and most exciting part of Disney pin collecting- when you actually get to trade in the parks! This is where having those extras on hand can be beneficial, especially when you see a pin you truly want. It isn’t difficult, it just requires that you follow the appropriate rules and you can trade with any cast members at the parks. The great thing is they cannot turn you down as long as you have followed the rules accordingly. It is truly exciting when you are staying at the Disney hotels as well, since the cast members there usually wear a lanyard and sometimes later at night you can catch the absolute best pins.

Trading at the parks is something that is fun and enjoyable, especially if you have children with you as well. Being able to bring a whole new level of joy and magic to the experience is what Disney does best!
