List of Funko Pop Ad Icons From Most to Least Expensive

List of Funko Pop Ad Icons From Most to Least Expensive

While there are plenty of highly sought after Funko Pops out there, one of the collections which seems to really bring out the crazy in people is the Ad Icons. These are based on certain products and are the various major brand mascots for these companies, ones like Tony the Tiger or Toucan Sam. When it comes to the Funko Pop versions of these various beloved characters, it creates some intense responses from collectors. Everyone wants to get these hands on the classic characters, whether it is because of rarity or some sort of nostalgia, they are wildly popular designs. This has even caused some pretty insane reactions in certain stores, where some people were accused of attacking other customers because they got to a chase variant of one of these figures first.

While not everyone responds with this level of insanity, the more normal collectors still find themselves eager to get their hands on these special figures. For any completionist these can certainly be some of the hardest ones to acquire and finish the set for. While some of them were released years ago with variants made as convention exclusives, Funko has recently started releasing many more of the various characters we know and adore. They have been released as exclusives for various stores, but many have been specific Funko Shop exclusives. We decided to create a comprehensive list of all of these adorable little figures which seem to be making people so crazy, starting from most expensive and working down to the least. There are a few which they produced less of a limited number for, and result they are easier to come by and not quite as expensive for anyone hoping to purchase them. While some might be more reasonable, the more expensive ones are rather costly.

Boo Berry (Glow in the Dark Chase)- $3,500

While this one is fairly difficult to price because of its small edition size, it definitely goes for an impressive cost. It was made with only 24 in existence back in 2011, and stands to be one of the most expensive Funko figures ever. It can be more challenging to come up with a price for these smaller edition sizes, since they are hard to ever see for sale. This one certainly holds its value though, and can sell for even higher than our estimated price.

Big Boy- $1,450

This was released in 2016 with an extremely limited number of only 480 in existence. A major reason this is such a pricey piece is because it was released exclusively for San Diego Comic Con and was not easy for people to get their hands on. Based on the Big Boy Restaurants mascot, this is definitely one of the priciest Funko figures, as well as one of the most expensive ad icon figures to date. Being that this is based on a restaurant which was founded so very long ago, it has such a classic and nostalgic feel that most people are drawn to these days. Not only is it desirable because of those reasons, but also because the highly limited number and the obsessive completionists who are willing to pay that somewhat shocking price to get their hands on one of these.

Count Chocula Metallic Variant- $1,025

While anyone who loves these classic General Mills cereals will absolutely adore this figure, acquiring one is pretty challenging. It is difficult to even find one for sale to begin with, but if you are lucky enough to find it you also need to be capable of handing over around $1,000 in order to acquire it from a seller. It was released in 2011 exclusively for San Diego Comic Con with only 480 ever made. Whenever there is a smaller edition size for a SDCC exclusive, it becomes rather valuable, and on top of that it is a metallic variant which everyone seems to go crazy for. While this is a pricey piece, we have to admit it is rather adorable with its metallic shine.

Boo Berry Metallic- $920

Released in 2011 exclusively for San Diego Comic Con, this Funko Pop of the classic General Mills cereal has an edition size of only 480. It has been one of the more sought after Ad Icons since its release, but in truth it is truly difficult to find let alone obtain. It can go for just under $1,000, but sometimes even more if someone is willing to pay that price. Anyone who is a fan of the Ad Icon collection definitely wants to get their hands on this fairly adorable figure.

Franken Berry Metallic- $885

Another one of the monster cereal ad icons by General Mills, this iconic figure was released in 2011 for SDCC with an edition size of only 480. Another one in the set this piece sells for a rather high price of nearly $900. It is definitely a highly sought after figure, but is extremely hard to acquire. With its precious pink coloring and a nice metallic shine, it is one that really stands out in design and detail.

Boo Berry- $370-$400

Released back in 2011, this rare and desirable Boo Berry figure can go from $370-$400 depending on the seller. Just another hard to come by figure which wasn’t exclusive anywhere, it still holds its high value for people holding to get a bit of an easier to acquire ad icon, versus the SDCC exclusive variants which are rather challenging to find for sale.

Count Chocula- $360-$400

This is another figure which has a varying price depending on the seller, but it still tends to go for a nice little chunk of money. Released alongside the other cereal icons back in 2011, it certainly fetches a pretty penny for anyone able to sell it.

Franken Berry- $380

Released with Count Chocula and Boo Berry, this adorable General Mills icon can sell for around $380 to the right buyer and even higher in some cases. It was released in 2011 and still remains a highly sought after collectible.

Tony the Tiger Flocked and Original- $370-$390

Both of the Tony the Tiger Funko Pops were released as Funko shop exclusives and were extremely difficult to acquire. The flocked variant was released for Christmas with an edition size of 2000, and was part of a stressful queue which most collectors weren’t excited about. It became challenging since it was meant to be limited to only so many per person and ended up with quite the drama with people finding ways around this. The struggle only made it more valuable, selling for around $380 now. The regular variant with a higher edition size of 3,000 seems to sell for around the same price point, with its classic design.

Yummy Mummy- $340

Another Funko shop exclusive release, this adorable monster cereals icon can go for around $340 or even more in some situations. With an edition size of 2500 it has continued to climb since its release in 2017, and is definitely another sought after item.

Newly released and exclusive to Jollibee Stores, this little figure can sell for quite the little chunk of money. It ranges but seems to be around $200-$240 depending on the buyer. The price hasn’t quite settled yet but it still seems likely to hold a high value.

Toucan Sam- $200

Toucan Sam is certainly an iconic cereal mascot, and one that most people are highly nostalgic towards. It was a popular Funko shop exclusive, and was certainly an exciting item for anyone to acquire. It has held a steady value at around $250, but was even higher when it initially released and fans were going crazy to get their hands on him!

This flocked variant of the classic Trix Rabbit can sell for around $150 to even higher from resellers. It was released as a Christmas special exclusive and has an edition size of 3,500.

Sonny the Cuckoo- $150

It seems to sell for around $150, although after initial release it seems collectors would have paid just about anything for it. It released as a bundle with two other ad icons when it first came out.

Cereal Monsters 3 Pack- $150

Recently released this 3 Pack includes the iconic Boo Berry, Franken Berry and Count Chocula figures which were initially very expensive. The 3 Pack is extremely desirable since it is a rerelease of these normally highly expensive figures which came out back in 2011.

This exclusive Glow in the Dark figure is rather price, it was limited edition without a specific edition size when released.

It was definitely a desirable figure during its release, but since then it has continued to climb in value. It is certainly ad adorable and sought after figure for any ad icons fan or completionist. Thankfully it wasn’t as limited as some of the other figures, so it does pop up more often for sale.

This is actually the ninth installment in the Fire Emblem series, it features an entirely different world and reality. The Top 10 Rarest and Most Expensive Original Xbox Games

The Top 10 Rarest and Most Expensive Original Xbox Games

When you think of rare and pricey collectible video games we often think of older consoles that have a strong nostalgic value. You don’t see people discuss the original Xbox and some of the more valuable games that went along with it. Some of these games are surprisingly hard to find, and can even be sold for a nice little price. Many of the older games are valuable because collectors can actually play them on the 360, and they want to get their hands on these older games. Most of the older Xbox games are pretty dang cheap, but a few of them are rare and desirable by collectors. While they might not get you rich, they still get snatched up pretty quick by those collectors who want them.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

In this mashup fighting game you select a team of characters from these different universes to face off against an opponent. While the PS2 version is pricier and more popular, the Xbox version can still fetch you a decent dollar amount. You can see them selling for $50-$200 depending on how complete it is. There are still some with the factory seal which fetch a couple hundred dollars easily.

Sonic Mega Collection Plus & Super Monkey Ball Deluxe

This rerelease holds a value because it contains two excellent Sega titles in one game. The game can sell for around $40, but the sealed version can be around $80. Being released near the end of the original Xbox’s reign, caused a much smaller release of these games. Obviously the fact that there were less released makes it a bit rarer.

Jurassic Park Operation Genesis

Being that this is a more uncommon Xbox game, it is a somewhat more desirable edition. It has a feel like tycoon games, having to recreate the Jurassic Park theme park, but also making sure the dinosaurs don’t attack your guests. This game can sell for $40-$100 depending on the condition and of course if it is complete and in the original packaging.

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy

This includes GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas in one gaming package, making it a desirable edition for super-fans. Being that this released around the release of the Xbox 360, it got dropped by many retailers. It wasn’t as popular and so there was a more limited release of this specific package. Used it can sell for around $40 but can get up to over $100 new, making it a more valuable Xbox original game.

Halo Triple Pack

This edition was another one released near the end of the original Xbox career, making it a bit more of a limited release. It includes Halo 1, Halo 2 and Halo 2 Map expansion, and is backwards compatible for the 360. Of course any older games that can actually be played with the more recent console can be a bit more desirable for a wider range of gamers and collectors.

Street Fighter Anniversary Edition

This contains Hyper Street Fighter II, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike, all on one disc, making it a more unique and special edition. While it was already an extremely popular series, in recent years the price and desire have continued to go up. It usually sells at around $40-$50 but it continues to climb, making it an awesome yard sale type find.

Sniper Elite

This game was released on PS2 at around the same time as Xbox and wasn’t very popular with the initial release. While it wasn’t the most popular game when it came out, that actually makes it even rarer now. The title makes the gameplay pretty evident, being that it is based on stealth and long range shooting. It has very realistic gameplay, factoring in real life elements such as wind and breathing.  It can sell from $30-$50 online, making it a great find for collectors.

Star Wars Jedi Knight Academy

While this was not a limited release and was certainly very popular during its initial release, it remains a popular and desirable game. The gamer plays as a student at the Jedi academy, following missions from Luke Skywalker and the other Jedi. It can sell for around $20-$80, and continues to rise in popularity as the Star Wars franchise continues to grow and explode for new fans.

Teen Titans

This action game is based on popular TV series, and you get to play as the characters from the DC Universe, Robin, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg and Beast Boy. This game wasn’t released until a year after the Xbox 360 game out, which made it a much less popular edition with retailers- almost considered old news at the time of release. It can sell for around $50 now, mostly for fans of the series who simply want to get their hands on this game.

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Gold Game of the Year

On PC this game received two expansion packs, and the Xbox game of the year version included both of those expansions along with the game. Being that this is an already popular game, the version continues to be a desirable one. It can sell for around $30, but can be seen selling for $100 new.

While these games might not be as crazy valuable as original Nintendo, Super Nintendo or even original Playstation games, they are still surprisingly worth grabbing. Especially since many of you might still have some of these games in your collection. It is always nice to realize that you have a little gem in your possession. Many of the game son the list continue to climb in value as well, making them potentially pricey down the line as they become older and more nostalgic.

10 Most Expensive Things to Do At Disney World Parks

10 Most Expensive Things to Do At Disney World Parks

Anyone who loves Disney is fully aware of how expensive this hobby can truly be. Going to the parks has many exorbitant costs, starting with ticket prices. Simply getting a single day ticket can be pricey, but if you want a full vacation it can be even more expensive. You have travel prices, hotel expenses, tickets, food and of course souvenirs.  While the basics can be rather expensive, there are some added bonuses that can make your trip even more insane, if you have the dough to dish out. Some of the things on this list are outrageously expensive Disney World thrills, others are just a little bit above the average vacation prices. Here is our list of the most expensive and exciting things to do at Disney World.

Cinderella’s Castle Suite- Priceless

The reason this goes on the top of the list is because no amount of money can win you a stay at this incredible Disney filled palace. Before 2006 the space inside of Cinderella’s Castle was empty, but now it hosts the incredible Cinderella Suite which has only been used by a lucky few people. It occasionally can be won as a sweepstakes prize, but that is not a very common occurrence. The castle suite is actually an invitation only room for most people, being chosen by the ones deemed worth by Disney. Occasionally celebrities have been allowed to enjoy the Cinderella suite, which is certainly something to be envious of. This incredible castle room is more of a fantasy for fans, although it isn’t actually an oversized quite.

Golden Oaks

While this isn’t priceless, it can be extremely expensive. Many people have mentioned their desire to simply live at Disney World, considering it more their home than their actually home. Well not with the right amount of money you can actually live at Disney. Golden Oaks is a fairly recent community built on Disney property, so that you can enjoy the magic for the rest of your life. Yes, this is completely real and yes it is very expensive. Some of these homes costs millions of dollars, but they are filled with Disney touches and are right next to Magic Kingdom. What could possibly be better than that?

Disney Weddings and Parties

Hosting a special event like your wedding day at Disney can be both incredibly special and also rather expensive. The packages offered definitely make your already special day, unbelievably magical- but they are also truly expensive. It really is amazing to host your wedding day or parties at Disney World, with some surprisingly and unique additions that make it something you will remember forever. The prices can range and become rather high depending on what you are looking for, but the basic package is still one of the more expensive things you can do at Disney.

Special Tours

The special backstage tours can last around 5 hours but they can also cost thousands of dollars. You get a tour that includes things regular guests don’t get to experience and insider information on how to make the most out of their vacation. While these tours can be packed full of excitement, you will certainly be missing a lot of your cash from this one.

Africa Trek

This personal experience is great for anyone who truly loves the Safari aspect of Animal Kingdom. This is my personal favorite park at Disney World, and the ability to really see the animals in a habitat similar to the wild, is so rewarding. Disney takes such amazing care of their animals, you can see this in how healthy and happy they look. The Wild Africa Trek is a special experience and tour that you can only take part in if you have the extra cash to do so. It costs around $180 per person, but there are even more personal packages that can be closer to $250 per person. The appeal is that you get to be in a small tour group, and you will walking around getting much closer to the animals and getting a chance to take photos of them with your tour guide. You also get to enjoy a delicious lunch out on the safari, looking out at the beauty around you.

Disney Special Events

While the special events are not the absolute most expensive option, if you are adding them to your already pricey vacation it does add up. The tickets usually cost around $100 per person, but they don’t include a regular hopper or already purchased ticket. These are special events like the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and their special Christmas Party as well. These are some of the more exciting events that guests often want to partake in, with special fireworks, shows, food, merchandise, and even special characters that can only be seen during the events.

Dolphin Experience

It isn’t just Sea World that allows you to encounter the dolphins firsthand, Disney offers this as well. The packages have a price range of $145-$200 depending on what you are looking for. You get to enjoy personal time swimming with the dolphins, which is certainly a popular event for older kids. Anyone who loves sea-life will want to take this opportunity, as it is definitely a magical experience. As someone who enjoyed this as a kid, it is something any animal lover should look into.

Makeovers

Most of the makeovers are intended for children, but there have recently been some offered for adults. It usually costs around $200 and up for packages, but you can give your kids a full glammed out makeover. They can dress like their favorite princess, with the entire makeover included from the dress to the hairstyle.

Deluxe Resorts

Some of the deluxe Disney suites can costs hundreds of dollars for one night, making your entire vacation cost insanely high. Some of these special resorts are incredibly luxurious, with additions that other hotels simply do not provide you. Hotels are already some of the most expensive options, but when you add the deluxe resort stays you are talking about spending some serious money.

Character Dining

Dining at Disney is already one of your biggest expenses, as everything seems to be pricier than normal (even bottled water, no joke). When you decide to book a restaurant with character dining, you are talking about paying much more than usual. Some of them can be easier to afford, while others can definitely be pricey for an entire family.

While some of these things are nearly impossible for the average person, other options are within reach. These events and special experiences might seem crazy to some people but they will definitely make your Disney experience even more magical.

When it comes to gamers, many of us actually enjoy collecting nostalgic games, not just playing them. While this might seem odd to some people, to the ones collecting it is exciting and rewarding. Having a collection that brings you back to your past, and being able to add a few rare pieces to the group is truly exciting. It isn’t all about actually sitting down and experiencing the games once again, it is about having this piece of memorabilia in your possession. There are quite a few expensive and rare GameBoy games, which can be real finds if you happen to snag one. While you might not hear it mentioned as much, there is just as much nostalgia and excitement over our favorite handheld gaming device. Just remembering playing these games as kids makes most of us feel a strong sense of fondness and sentimentality. Here is our list of the rarest and most expensive GameBoy games on the market.

Trip World

This game never saw a North American release, which could be a large part of its appeal and price. While a loose copy can sell for a couple hundred dollars, in its original packaging it recently went for as high as $1,300! The gameplay is centered around a bunny looking character (seriously adorable) called Yakopoo, carrying out a quest to retrieve the flower of peace to return a sense of normalcy to his chaotic world. Yakopoo is capable of shapeshifting into three different primary forms, allowing the player to control him with different skills and abilities. Yackopoo can run and jump in his normal form, can fly in another form and become a fish in his third for. There are also various other special forms that Yackopoo can utilize in order to deal with enemies and adapt to the situation.

Amazing Tater

This game is certainly one of the rarest and most challenging to actually get your hands on. In its packaging it can sell for around $800, but still selling for a couple hundred loose. This puzzle based game is definitely one that collectors want to get their hands on, but will likely have a hard time doing so. Throughout the game you must guide a potato through each level, working to make your way towards the exit. All of these levels require maneuvering and adjusting to make it through a puzzle in order to get to the finish.

Spud’s Adventure

This game is very similar to Amazing Tater, since it is from the same series. Part of the rarity of this game is that it saw such low production numbers, now making it truly desirable for collectors. This game is just another puzzle based game, where your main character must go on a mission to save Princess Mato from Devil. Depending on the condition and if it is still in original packaging it can sell for close to $700.

Mega Man IV

Much like other Mega Man games the gameplay is classic but it includes various different bosses and levels which make this edition desirable for collectors. That fact that this specific version has not been re-released, causes it to maintain its value and even continue to rise over time. This specific edition can sell for around $600 complete.

Mega Man V

Of course, any Mega Man super fan wants to get ahold of any collectible or different version of their favorite game. There are plenty of differences which make the GameBoy version still desirable for collectors and Mega Man fans. While Mega Man 5 is one of the most popular installments, it also makes it one of the more difficult ones to find. While a loose copy can sell for a little over $50, a full version can actually be sold for close to $500 now. It has certainly increased over the years, and has become one that collects are scrambling to get their hands on.

Castlevania Legends

This might not be one of the favorites for gameplay, it is still highly desirable for collectors. This game can sell for almost $300 complete, and is certainly one the higher side of GameBoy prices. While it isn’t necessary a fan favorite for gameplay, since it is so different than the usual Castlevania games, it is still one that super fans want to snag.

Kid Dracula

This parody spinoff of the popular Castlevania series, definitely has some comedic and goofy elements to its style. Any true Castlevania collectors want to get their hands on this game, snagging it as quickly as they can find it. The strong desire for this as a collectors item, has quickly increased the value, especially since it was already fairly rare. The game can actually sell for anywhere from $100- $700 depending on the condition and if it is in complete packaging.

Pokemon Red

Obviously the Pokemon games are some of the most desirable and nostalgic for many of us gamers. They were ones that many of us played for hours on end, and still remain an extremely popular all around franchise. Pokemon red and blue were the very first games released. While there were many copies released, that makes Pokemon red a less rare game, it is still extremely valuable in its complete packaging. The loose version can sell for as little as $20, but for collectors wanting the complete edition, this can actually go for a few hundred dollars!

Jimmy Connors Tennis

While many sports games aren’t really ones that most collectors or fans desire, they can become fairly rare because of it. This specific edition did not become popular when it first sold, and so many less copies were made. The fact that so few exist has made this game quite rare and fairly valuable. Complete it can sell for a few hundred dollars, and is definitely a snag for collectors and fans of Jimmy Connors. Even a used copy of this game can sell for close to $100, which is rare for most GameBoy games.

Toxic Crusaders

This game is actually based on a cartoon, which was based on the 1984 horror comedy The Toxic Avengers. The sheer unusualness of this series caused this game to gain less attention, which of course makes it much rarer. That fact that it gained so little attention actually caused this game to be hard to find, and now interested fans will have to pay anywhere from $100-$300.

It can be truly hard to keep track of some of the more valuable and rare games on the market, but certain collectors definitely have their eyes out for their faves. This list includes some of the rarest and most insanely expensive GameBoy games. If you see any of these games sitting in a yard sale pile, certainly it is an exciting day for you! While most of them are much more valuable in their complete packaging, it can still snag a pretty penny loose. We hope you enjoy this list of nostalgia, and make sure to check out your old collections to see if you are lucky enough to possess one of these!

9 Ways to Save Money On Your Next Disney Vacation

9 Ways to Save Money On Your Next Disney Vacation

Anyone who has attending a Disney park or plans to, is well aware of just how expensive this can become. Whether you are making a single day trip, or doing a full vacation, the prices are a bit shocking sometimes. We know that any vacation can be pricey, but Disney is one of the more expensive options when it comes to simply attending a theme park. While it is expensive, I can promise you that it is well worth the effort and money- it truly is a rewarding and magical vacation option. In order to make the trip a little easier, it can be beneficial to enlist certain money saving tricks for your Disney vacation. Even if you are someone with a larger budget, money saving tips can still be helpful in order to make the trip a bit smoother. While others might have a smaller budget and might be struggling to make this dream come true entirely. If Disney is something you truly want to experience, then finding ways to pinch your pennies is definitely going to help. Here are some of the best and most effective ways to save money on your next Disney trip.

Bring Snacks

While this might seem a little odd, it is definitely an important factor in saving money. If you purchase groceries ahead of time and bring them to your hotel, it will save you an incredible amount of money. Buying your food on Disney grounds can become extremely expensive, especially if you end up eating out rather often. Of course everyone enjoys eating out at Disney, but doing this for every meal is definitely going to drain your funds rather quickly. This is one of the better ways to be frugal, since you can simply purchase your snacks at your dollar store before heading down to Disney. Most hotels have a mini fridge, but we also advise bringing your own appliances since you won’t have a microwave or even a toaster. Obviously some hotels aren’t happy with you having your own microwave, so this is something you might have to check into ahead of time. Or simply make sure to be very careful with the appliances you do bring and make sure not to bring anything that can cause a fire. Other than that having your own means of making sandwiches or easier snacks is definitely going to save you a lot of money in the long run.

Soda is a serious expense at Disney, so if your family enjoys having a soda here and there- buy them ahead of time! The price of soda at Disney is insanely high in comparison to its regular cost, so we strongly advise buying your supply before attending and trying to avoid purchasing them when dining out.

Dollar Store Purchases

Any gear that you might need is best to purchase before attending the parks. Things like reusable ponchos, Band-Aids and any other toiletry supplies- you should absolutely buy at the dollar stores before heading to your hotel. These things become extremely expensive at Disney, and getting them for cheap is going to save you a lot of money.

Disney Gift Cards

This is definitely a popular way to save money, since purchasing many of these gift cards to make your Disney purchases can give you 5% to 10% back. It often requires jumping through a few hoops in order to redeem these extra bits of money, but it is definitely worth it, especially if you shop at the different retailers that carry them. Often places like Sams Club and Krogers.

Skip the Combos

When dining out you might want to skip the combos, which includes the sides and ends up costing you a couple dollars more. If you don’t need those extra food items then it can be beneficial to save your money on them. If you have an entire family eating out then having these combos can really become pricey after a while, and most people aren’t actually aware that you can skip the combo and just go with the main food item.

Mousesavers

Mousesavers.com can be a great site to visit for updates on different savings you can participate in. They give you constant updates on savings, discounts and special deals. Various coupons can really be helpful and having a full time site like this is going to make a huge difference in the amount of cash you can save. They also have some exclusive rates for hotels and others things that you can’t get anywhere else.

Refillable Water Bottle

Purchasing water at the parks is actually rather expensive. Having a refillable water bottle which you can just fill up at the fountains or restaurants, is going to really help you out. Something like this seems rather small but is really helpful in ensuring that you don’t spend unnecessary cash. Disney costs are very high for things like drinks and food, and with the heat you will definitely need to keep yourself hydrated. Making sure that you can refill without costing you a fortune, is going to add up to a lot of saved money.

Bring Your Own Strollers and Chairs

Most people figure they can rent strollers or wheelchairs at Disney, and while you can do this- the costs are a bit crazy. It can be over $100 daily for certain chairs and strollers, so you want to bring them yourself if you can. This is a major money saved and something everyone should do beforehand instead of spending hundreds to nearly a thousand dollars on something that they can make a one time purchase for.

Skip the Luxury Hotels

While official Disney hotels have incredible and immersing surroundings, they are also insanely expensive. The hotel costs are often the largest portion of your Disney budget, so saving what you can here is definitely valuable. Choosing to stay at some of the non-Disney hotels can really be beneficial for your bank account. Some of these hotels are actually still on the grounds and means you don’t have to feel disconnected from the parks. The rooms might be a bit smaller and you aren’t going to have those Disney decorations around you, but it does save a good chunk of money that in my opinion is well worth it.

Discounted Tickets

There are actually resellers who can offer you Disney tickets at a discounted price. These still work just as well and give you all the same access, they just aren’t officially sold from Disney. Undercover Tourist seems to be one of the best places for purchasing Disney World and Disneyland tickets at a discounted price.

Marshmallow Pops

Mickey Kitchen Sink Sundae

A fun treat with an even more enjoyable name, the Kitchen Sink Sundae can be served at Magic Kingdom. It is served inside of a sink bowl, with delicious toppings and is definitely a large portion which can feed more than one person. This is a great dessert to share with your loved ones, unless you enjoy eating large desserts all by your lonesome.

Candy Apples

At Disney you don’t just get regular Candy Apples, you get adorably decorated Candy Apples. Whether you want to bite into a Mickey themed dessert, or are more interested in something reminiscent of Goofy, these are certainly delicious and adorable treats.

Ohana Bread Pudding

Served at the Ohana restaurant, this amazing dessert is one you have to try if you enjoy a good bread pudding. Served a la mode with Bananas Caramel Sauce, this incredibly treat is worth waiting for. The Pros and Cons of Working as a Disney Parks Employee

The Pros and Cons of Working as a Disney Parks Employee

While there has been plenty of recent drama tied to the workers at Disney complaining about the work environment and unfair wages, there are always multiple sides to any story. For some the experience is not at all worth the effort and struggle, while for others it is something they remember fondly and do not regret. There are definitely pros and cons to working at Disneyland and Walt Disney World parks. The important factor is considering your lifestyle and if working at the parks is actually worthwhile for you and your personal needs.

Free Admission

An excellent benefit of working for Disney is being able to attend the parks free of charge. If you are someone who absolutely loves Disney than you realize that it can be wildly expensive. Many people can only visit once in a while if they are lucky, but being a cast member gives you the chance to actually experience the magic whenever you want. This saves a lot of money for people who enjoy Disney, and can be one of the best benefits of being a cast member. The chance to make memories and enjoy spending time in your favorite place after work, is definitely something that most cast members cherish. You would think it would be tiring after a while, but for true fans it really never gets boring. Many say it also saves them money on the weekends, instead of buying movie tickets or going out places, they wind up back at the parks for free admission.

Connections and Friendships

Of course one of the most amazing and special parts of being a cast member is making lifelong friendships. Meeting people who you can connect with and share your passions, and being able to make those valuable connections is rather important. It also allows for work related connections, which can help you further a career elsewhere if you choose.  Being able to make those bonds and experience people from all walks of life, is something that Disney truly provides. Not only getting to know other cast members, but helping and connecting with guests at the park.

Someone who is empathetic and enjoys helping others will definitely love being able to make someone’s vacation truly special. Encountering those people who just need a little pick-me-up and being able to provide a smile for a family who needs it, is definitely a valuable experience that you can provide as a cast member. If being able to please others and make them happy is something you enjoy, then you can definitely add that to the pro column.

Learning New Skills

While there are only certain skills to be learned in such a specific environment, customer service is the biggest one. You will learn how to connect with people and be patient when it comes to their needs and desires. Being able to learn how to handle just about any situation and help others who truly need it, is something that will help you in any future customer service jobs. As a Disney parks employee you will have to encounter so many different types of people from all over the world and from many different life situations, which truly helps you broaden your understanding of how to respond to people.

Minimal Pay

The pay is definitely something that goes in the con column, since it is often just above minimum wage. It isn’t a high paying job, especially since the locations can be rather expensive places to live. It can be difficult to maintain a life on that salary, especially if you are living alone. Many people find it more helpful to live with roommates, in order to make paying for rent much easier. The pay is something most cast members complain about, since it really isn’t easy to get by on a lower salary. In truth the salary compares to many other jobs in the areas, and it is more of a widespread problem than just a Disney related issue.

Unusual Hours

The hours can be a bit insane for cast members, especially since Disney offers something called “magic hours”. These are hours that the park is open just for special guests staying in the on ground resorts. This makes it challenging for the cast members since they sometimes wind up working a morning shift and then having to jump into a night shift with only a few hours’ time to sleep in between. This can become rather exhausting and hard to maintain, making it challenging since workers also have to remain happy and pleasant towards the customers. It is difficult to deal with whiny customers when you haven’t gotten more than a few hours rest in the last 24 hours.

The Heat

The heat is of course one of the more exhausting and grueling parts of working at the parks. Certain times of year can be sweltering and nearly impossible to stay cool in. Many cast members have specific attire and it isn’t always the coolest of options. Having to wear a full costume is even worse when you are dealing with 100 degree weather. Even guests complain of the heat, so you can just imagine how challenging it is for cast members who have to work in it all day.

Strict Rules

The rules for working at the Disney parks are extremely strict and unbending. The cast members are constantly being observed and must adhere to every little detail. These rules often include speaking with very specific vocabulary, and having to present yourself a certain way even outside of your work environment. Some of these rules can seem a bit insane to people, but in Disney’s eyes they are important in order to maintain the magical experience for the guests.

In my personal opinion working at the parks is best for someone who wants to experience something magical, and not someone who is looking for a career that will satisfy them financially. It is more ideal for younger people who don’t mind that experience of living on ramen noodles, but who also want to make friends and enjoy living in the present for a while. It might not be ideal for people who want a long term career option, since the pay isn’t amazing and the hours can be rather long. At the same time it definitely teaches you a lot and provides some incredible memories that cannot be replaced. While many cast members have complaints about their experiences, they ultimately would not trade it for the world. The important thing is to consider if the job fits your personal preferences, and continuing to do the proper research about your expectations.
