8 Awesome Things for the Nostalgic 90’s Kid
8 Awesome Things for the Nostalgic 90’s Kid
Let’s face it, most 90’s kids are reaching a serious nostalgic time in their lives right about now. Remembering back when life was simple and everything seemed so great. Times have changed and things have gotten much more complicated, while back in the 90’s things seemed much simpler. It’s hard not to look back on a time that reminds us of lazy childhood days, and awesome weekend cartoons.
The Nick Box
The Nick Box is a quarterly box that seems to sell out rather quickly! It brings awesome Nickelodeon great right to your door! If you are feeling nostalgic this is certainly a way to bring all of these memories flooding back. With knick knacks and clothing from your absolute favorite cartoon characters, this box is sure to impress any fans. It is colorful and loaded full of cool items, but it is a bit on the pricey side for a subscription box. It is definitely worth the nostalgic boost for any 90’s kid looking to be reminded of their favorite cartoons.
Other Subscription Boxes
There are plenty of other boxes you can subscribe to for all of your nostalgia needs. 90’s Throwback, The 90’s Box and various others can provide you with your 90’s fix right at your front door. It can be an exciting way to receive a piece of the past with unexpected surprises in each box.
Funko Pops!
Funko definitely knows that many 90’s kids are collectors themselves, and were raised with the interest in stockpiling figures and collectibles. They have recently released some of the coolest Nickelodeon pops for any fans who were awaiting their favorite cartoons in Pop form. They also have plenty of other exciting 90’s Pops to get you back into the good ole days. Whether you’re eager to get your hands on Tommy Pickles, or you were a massive Disney fan growing up- Funko has the fix for your 90’s nostalgia.
Retro Gaming
Yup, it’s back in full swing and I would like to think this surge of retro gaming is mostly due to nostalgic 90’s kids. Missing those laid back times of coming home from school and excitedly rushing to your video games- now is the time to relive those days. Whether you are a purist who wants to snag an old school system, or simply someone who wants to remember the classic games- you have your options. There was recently a release of the Super NES Classic, which has the look of the original console but much smaller and is preloaded with 21 of your favorite games. Personally I prefer to actual old school console with the physical cartridges, but to each their own. Purchasing an old school system can become a bit pricey, especially when it comes to finding your favorite games from sellers online.
Tamagotchi
Apparently this is still thing and even becoming popular once again. While it might not bring you the warm and fuzzies, it certainly is a major reminder of the 90’s. So now you can purchase a Tamogotchi once again and forget about it until months later when you mourn the death of your sad little creature that you completely neglected. RIP.
Pokemon Go
Sure the fad seems to have died down quite a bit since it initial release, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t enjoyable for a little reminiscing. It is definitely a modernized way to experience your favorite Pokemon, and let’s face it kids have it so much different these days. While you can enjoy the electronic age of Pokemon Go, you can also go back to the old school collecting days. Unfortunately a lot of the newly released Pokemon can leave us 90’s kids feeling less nostalgic and a bit well…old.
Reboots
While some of these reboots can leave you feeling more depressed than actually excited, some are a great way to relive your childhood. DuckTales is one of the reboots that actually seems to have done an impressive job bringing back our childhood with a new flare to it.
Rocko’s Modern Life Static Cling- Fans of this amazingly original and lovable cartoon are getting a made for tv special sometime this year! I know this is one I am more than a little bit excited for, and here’s to hoping they do it justice.
Hey Arnold! Also received a nostalgic movie special reboot, for any fans of the football shaped kiddo. It is definitely exciting to see some of childhood favorites being rebooted if even for a short time.
Fashion
Let’s face it, anyone who grew up in the 90’s is highly aware that many of these trends are coming back into style. We scoff at the youngins trying to do these styles justice, and remember that we did it first. Every trend finds its way back into the limelight, but now it seems many 90’s fashion statements are making their way into the mainstream, and it is certainly enough to make any 90’s kid feel nostalgic for the days of mood rings and butterfly clips.
While these can’t entirely bring back the glory days, they can give you a fresh reminder of those simpler times. The 90’s were a great time for kids to grow up, and certainly created a generation of unique souls. It seems so many of those trends are coming back full swing into popularity, and it pleases many of the 90’s kids who grew up with all of these amazing things.
