Why Disney’s New Streaming Service is Such a Big Deal
Why Disney’s New Streaming Service is Such a Big Deal
Many of you might be aware that Disney has recently announced their own streaming service to be brought to life in 2019. Not only does this mean that Disney is removing their films from Netflix, but they will only be exclusively viewable on their personal streaming service. This definitely makes Disney’s new service one that most fans of Disney, Marvel or Star Wars will absolutely have to sign up for. It really leaves no options for people who don’t want to miss out on some of their favorite franchises. As someone who is personally a fan of all three, I can’t see myself passing up on this new service.
Original Series
Not only is Disney going to be removing most of their movies from Netflix and onto their new streaming service. They will also be creating plenty of brand new and completely original shows that will be exclusive to their service. They have stated that they expect to release a new Star Wars series, a Marvel series and Monsters Inc. as well.
This is definitely a big deal for Disney, as we have seen it make a major impact on Netflix. Not only will this streaming service create a place for fans who want to enjoy all of the Disney films and shows, it also means new exclusives that cannot be found elsewhere. Original shows that can only be seen in one place, is definitely a great way to entice viewers and maintain control of the film world. Disney certainly knows what they are doing and this will likely result in their service become the biggest and most popular one out there.
Owning Marvel and Lucas Films along with their Disney originals, makes them already a force to be reckoned with. Having access to some of the biggest and most popular names in the movie business makes Disney rather hard to beat. These are some of the biggest film companies in the business, and Disney has control of them. This keeps a large fan base coming their way, not only fans specific to the Disney classics. Now with their new series being released on their streaming service, they will definitely be the ones ruling the film industry.
From now on if you want to see the new Star Wars, Marvel and Disney films after they hit theaters, you will need to have access to Disney’s streaming service. This gives them all of the power when it comes to the rather large fan base that is wrapped around these franchises. While other companies like Netflix know how to survive amongst these challenges, Disney is still going to be taking a lot of control when it comes to capturing subscribers. As far as we know the Netflix original series such as Jessica Jones, Daredevil and other similar titles are likely to remain within the grasp of Netflix for now. Disney also announced that this streaming service will not include any of their R-Rated films or shows, and those will be streamed on Hulu.
Disney will also transfer their live-action films to the service after they hit theaters. There is even talk of a few live-action films that will be directly viewable on the service, instead of going to theaters at all. Ones like Sword in the Stone and Lady and the Tramp are said to be in the works currently.
A Whole New World
It seems that there will be plenty of new releases and unexpected surprises with Disney’s new service. They have already announced new exclusive movies and series will be in the works, so what else could this mean? Disney is not one to hold back and remain stagnant, so we will likely continue to see new exclusives and surprises around every corner as far as this new service is concerned. It is definitely something that fans will be eager to sign up for, especially if they don’t want to miss out on being able to dive into their favorite films all in one place. Let’s face it, Disney sees where the money is and they follow down that path rather strategically. Thankfully every step they take is well planned and offers fans plenty of value and enjoyment. I predict that the service will be well worth the wait and the money, although no official price range has been announced just yet.
What do you think about this new service? Are you excited or concerned?
