Which Disney Movies Are in the Vault? Your Comprehensive Disney Movie Guide

Which Disney Movies Are in the Vault? Your Comprehensive Disney Movie Guide

Many of us Disney fans had a massive collection as a child, but likely those movies were on VHS. While there is something rather retro about maintaining that collection, it really isn’t as functional. Whether you still collect DVDs or are collecting the high definition Blu-ray Discs, this will be your comprehensive guide to gathering the best collection possible.

What is the Disney Vault?

Disney likes to make their products rare, this increases value and makes people more enticed by them. Disney does this with their movies by putting the classics into the vault, where they remain for 5-7 years. When it is time for a film to reemerge from the vault, Disney will release it in a fancy packaging and charge fans a pretty penny. Let’s face it, we don’t mind- we get into the hype and enjoy being a part of the magic. The vault can be frustrating for fans though, especially when you are working on building your movie collection back up with your favorites. It seems like Disney chose the absolute best films to put into the vault, but thankfully they do come back out. They can also be found by third party retailers, who often mark up the price a bit since these films are not readily available in stores.

Below is a list of Disney films that currently go in and out of the vault:

Aladdin

The Lion King

Beauty and the Beast

Bambi

Cinderella

Dumbo

The Jungle Book

Lady and the Tramp

The Little Mermaid

Sleeping Beauty

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Pinocchio

Fantasia

Peter Pan

101 Dalmatians

Alice in Wonderland

** As of right not many of these films have been un-vaulted, but they won’t stay out for long!

What is the Disney Movie Club?

No I’m not trying to sell you on something, but information is a helpful way to make a decision about your next purchase. The Disney Movie Club is something that can be very beneficial for fans who are working on building their collection, but keep in mind it is a commitment so it isn’t worth joining unless you are capable of keeping up with your purchases.

Disney Movie Club gives you your first 4 or 5 films (depending on the current promotion) for $1 with free shipping. The promotion does change from time to time, but it is always pretty close to the same thing, $1 gets you a few films to start your collection with. These are usually a list of the best ones too, like the ones currently out of the vault, making it a very enticing offer.

The catch to this is that you must commit to purchasing 5 films at full price within a 2 years period. The DVDs are usually $19.95 and the Blu-Ray can be around $29.95. This is the normal price for these films so it isn’t like they are taking on any extra charges. You also get plenty of amazing discounts and deals, which you cannot find anywhere else. When you purchase one film at full price you often get different members benefits like 50% off any additional films. These deals change depending on the current specials that the club is running. You also get plenty of cool items and offers on top of this, like the Disney Movie Club exclusive lithographs. The lithographs are really stunning images from the different Disney films, and can be framed to make a lovely picture on your wall. You also get other extras, like keychains and a special VIP pin when you reach your VIP status.  The Club can also be a great way to keep track of which movies have been released from the vault, and you can snag them before they slip back in for years.

The other catch is that you have to keep a close eye on your account since you have monthly featured titles. If you do not decline or accept this title it will automatically be sent to you, and you will be charged. As long as you can keep checking your account then you will be perfectly fine, you also receive a notification in the mail and via email. They certainly try to make sure you don’t mess up and purchase a film you do not want, but it requires paying attention. If you want to begin building your collection back up this is certainly the best way to do it, and it makes for a fun experience. The great thing is that if you decide to fulfill your purchase commitment ahead of time, you receive bonus deals that make it even more exciting for you. It can be an amazing and fun experience for some, but is a bit too much work for others. You have to be sure you can devote the energy to keeping track of your featured titles, and keeping up with your purchase commitment over 2 years. If you can keep up with it however, it is definitely an excellent way to build back your lost collection into something marvelous.

Disney Movie Rewards Club

Anyone who is working on building their Disney collection back up also needs to know about the Disney Rewards Club. This is something you can sign up for free, and gives you points for each movie you purchase! Any Disney movie has a sleeve inside of the case that will have a specific redeemable code on it. For movies that have a digital film as well your rewards code will likely be the same as your digital movie code. This is something that many people forget to do, and that is certainly a mistake. You redeem points which can be added up to purchase plenty of awesome rewards. The Rewards Club has Disney movies on there as well, so this basically adds up to getting free movies for your collection. You can also purchase collectibles, t-shirts, posters and even a gorgeously detailed Disney plush.

You can also receive points from your Disney movie ticket purchase, or any music purchase you make. Always keep an eye out for those codes, since they are basically like adding money to your account. You don’t want to miss out on those extra points which can get you to special freebies. I mean who doesn’t love free stuff?

Check Other Retailers

Of course being a Disney Movie Club member has plenty of perks, you can always check other retailers and price match. If things seem a little steep on the Disney Club, go over to the other websites and retailers for the cheaper price. Most of the time though the club will actually have the most satisfying deals, and will give you freebies to make the purchase even sweeter. There are also places like flea markets and yard sales where you can add a few more of your Disney movies to your collection. These various outlets can be useful since there are a lot of films to collect if you are looking to really fill your shelves with Disney.

Building up your Disney movie collection can certainly be a challenging affair, which takes a long time to complete. It is fun and exciting when you have all of those amazing movies at your constant disposal though. Whether you are a parent of a Disney fan, or just a child at heart- building up your Disney collection gives you a chance to enjoy the magic for years to come.

Many fans of Peter Pan will want to get their hands on this piece, but it isn’t an easy one to snag. Fortunately there are some lower priced Jim Shore Captain Hook figures, that aren’t quite as rare as this specific design.

While these are just a few pieces, there are plenty of other rare and expensive Jim Shore figures to keep your eyes on. They are stunning pieces that anyone would want to snag, but certainly aren’t always easy to get. There are many figure that are in a fair price range, anywhere from $15 to $50 for the newer items. The Most Anticipated Disney Prince Funko Pop Releases

The Most Anticipated Disney Prince Funko Pop Releases

It has been quite some time now that fans of Disney and Funko have been awaiting the arrival of the princes. For a while it was said that they had licensing issues and it was certainly putting a damper on our incomplete collections. While they released the princesses in full swing along with some resculpts, they still had not given us the princes that we truly wanted. Thankfully Funko has FINALLY begun creating some of our favorite princes in Pop form, and the fans are certainly excited. So here is a list of the princes that are now available and the ones that will be coming out soon, along with a few that still NEED to be made. We’re pointing at you Funko!

Aladdin

Aladdin is one of my personal favorites and we finally have him to finish off our sets. Funko recently released an original Aladdin look, along with Jasmine in her red outfit, Jafar with comes with a chase variant, Abu and Rajah. There is also an Aladdin and Genie movie moments two pack which is available for Pre-order on Amazon and other various retailers.

Hercules

While Hercules is more of a god than a prince, he is still a long awaited collectible. Hercules is currently up for preorder and slated to release sometime in March. Funko is releasing a full Hercules line, with plenty of Pops to sate your appetite. They have our hunky Hercules, with a glow in the dark chase version as well! Along with the rest of the line, Hercules on Pegasus, Baby Herc, Megara and the villainous Hades which also has a chase variant. This line is also stated to have Pain and Panic, the mischievous and lovable henchmen of Hades. Definitely a long awaited line, with plenty of variants to keep up excited!

Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid

Prince Eric is certainly a favorite of Disney fans, since the Little Mermaid is on of Disney’s most popular films. While he was not released as a common and easy to acquire Pop, he was released in a wedding two-pack alongside his beautiful bride Ariel. This two-pack was released as a Disney Treasures Subscription Box exclusive, and the box sold out rather quickly.

The Beast/ Adam

Of course we have plenty of these pops already released to make fans happy, but what about releasing the Beast as Adam? It would be exciting to have this special variant, maybe even as a chase? For now the fans of a couple different version of the Beast to keep us happy and our Beauty and the Beast collections looking mostly completed.

Kristoff (Frozen)

Fans have had probably more Frozen than we can stand in pop form, and was actually one of the first lines to have a male Disney character released. It might be interesting to have a prince Hans pop, our most hated villain from pretty much any Disney film.

Anticipated Releases

While these releases are an exciting beginning to what will hopefully create more prince Pops, there are still many that fans are awaiting. Funko has certainly tried to make us happy with these Pops, but fans are in need of finished sets! Here are a few that fans are certainly hoping to see released sooner rather than later.

Flynn Rider (Eugene from Tangled)

Tangled is a revered film that most Disney fans absolutely adore, and the Pops are certainly big sellers. While we have a couple variants of the beautiful Rapunzel, and even a Maximus figure, we are short one Flynn Rider to go alongside of them. Fans would love to see Flynn aka Eugene sporting that irresistible smolder of his, maybe even as a chase variant!

Prince Naveen (Princess and the Frog)

While we do have the prince Naveen as a frog, we don’t have an actual figure of him in his human form. This might be a licensing issue but fans are hoping that Funko can work this one out. It would be exciting to have the handsome and charming Naveen to go alongside our Princess. We also wouldn’t complain if it were to be a wedding two-pack.

Captain Li Shang

While he isn’t technically a prince, he is certainly a strongly anticipated Pop. We have Mulan and Mushu, now we need the impressive and commanding Li Shang. It hasn’t been announced yet by Funko but fans are certainly hoping for the release of Li Shang, possible Shan Yu, Yao, and a few other notable characters from Mulan.

Prince Charming (Cinderella)

The classic Prince Charming might not be the most modern prince, but he is one of the earlier and most recognizable princes. While we have the beautiful Cinderella in a couple variants, we still don’t have her handsome prince to accompany her. Fans would adore having the prince in his full ball attire, and is certainly a pop we are anticipating.

Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty)

While Sleeping Beauty is one of the older Disney princess films, that doesn’t make it any less appealing. It is a classic and Prince Phillip is certainly an irresistible character. His charm and bravery makes him a truly admirable Disney prince. Fans would love to see him dawning his red cape and hat, storming off to fight to villainous Maleficent.

Prince Ferdinand (Snow White)

From the classic film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, fans would love to see a prince Ferdinand alongside of our princess and of course our newly released set of Dwarves.

While we are excited that some of these Pops are in the making, there are still so many more to be created. This definitely keeps the hobby going and keeps fans anticipating potential future releases. The fact that we are finally seeing some of our favorite princes being sculpted, gives us hope that the rest will be made in the near future. What are some of your most anticipated Disney Funko releases?

The Top 10 Most Annoying Things About Pop Hunting

The Top 10 Most Annoying Things About Pop Hunting

While there are many fun and amazing aspects to being a collectors, but every collector knows that the downsides exist. There are some days when you just aren’t feeling all that positive about your experiences, and you come close to calling it quits. Of course most of us never actually give up on our hobbies, but they can certainly have their ups and down. Here are the top ten most annoying aspect of Funko Pop hunting.

Rude Collectors

While most of us collectors simply want to enjoy our hobby and even enjoy sharing this experience with others, some aren’t so pleasant. One of the worst parts of being a collector is having to endure the people who are simply obnoxious about their collecting. They push others aside, they become aggressive and even argumentative. They are the ones who will race you to the front of the line even when you have been waiting there much longer than them. The unfortunate side of this, is that those type of collectors always have some excuse for their poor behavior and lack of etiquette. Most people just want to enjoy their hobby and don’t like the idea of having to push around everyone else in order to get the best item. These nasty collectors can certainly ruin the hobby for everyone else. When they start to bring you down it is best to look on the brighter side and try to connect with collectors who are kind and not so self-centered. There are plenty of people who I have witnessed helping other collectors out when they didn’t have to- and those are the collectors to remember.

The Flippers

Let’s face it, most collectors being annoyed by the flippers. While everyone has moments where they need to sell one of their collectibles in order to supply the habit, that isn’t quite the same as what we are referring to here. The flippers are the non-collectors who simply see a good market and want to make a living on it. While it can be argued that there is nothing wrong with this, it still makes collecting frustrating. Even if you believe that it is perfectly acceptable to purchase items solely for resale that is beside the point here. For most collectors the flippers can really ruin the experience and make it challenging to enjoy collecting at all. They are crafty and quick, some of them making this their main source of income. While most collectors have day jobs, it can make it challenging for them to snag the Pop they truly want, since the flippers seem to always get there ahead of time.

Store Employees

While I have personally encountered some amazing and helpful store employees, we have all seen the other side of this. Store employees clueless, self-serving and sometimes altogether rude to their customers. Experiencing a worker who doesn’t want to assist you, or who scoffs at your hobby, can be an extremely frustrating thing to endure. It can become even worse when the employees hide the Pops because they are collectors themselves. Even though one could argue that they deserve this benefit from working a thankless job, it can still be a rather annoying experience for other collectors. Having to deal with employees who make the hunting more challenging, is certainly something that annoys most collectors.

Purchase Regret

We have all been there once or twice, you get extremely hyped up about a new release and grab for fear of missing out. Sometimes the fact that we have missed out on an awesome Pop in the past, makes us get a little jumpy as collectors. The purchase regret can be a frustrating experience, especially since the hobby isn’t always a cheap one. You feel that let down after realizing the Pop you purchased really doesn’t fit into your collecting and you aren’t all that excited about having it anymore. The good thing is many other collectors could benefit from this, especially if you give them a fair price. While it might not be the worst part of collecting, the purchase regret can be a bit annoying at times.

Disorganized Shelves

While it isn’t the absolute worst thing, it can be rather annoying to experience disorganization in the stores. Either you cannot find where the Pops are located, or they are skewed all over the place. While it can be annoying, it can also be an added challenge to keep things exciting. For some collectors it is frustrating to have to search the entire store for the Pop they are looking for, especially when they plan to hunt in many more stores that day. With not a lot of time to look, having a store where the Pops aren’t in a clear location can be rather annoying. This can become even more frustrating when none of the employees no what a Funk Pop is.

The Gas Mileage

There are times when we travel long distances just to check out the different locations for Pop hunting. While it can be part of the fun, it can be a little bit exhausting for your vehicle. Watching those miles rack up as you drive from store to store, is a little unnerving sometimes. It can become even more annoying when you get in and out of the car, only to keep failing at every turn. While hunting has plenty of exciting aspects to it, the expenses and the drain on your vehicle really isn’t the best part.

The Constant Disappointment

Let’s face it, even if you love the thrill of the hunt- the disappointment can be a bit well…disappointing. When you spend hours searching for that one item you really want and keep coming up empty handed, it can make the hobby a bit miserable. Sure, the constant let downs make it even more thrilling when you do hit big- that doesn’t make any less challenging. Constantly searching and finding nothing because other people beat you to it, can be a bit depressing at times. Pop hunting can be a bit of a gamble, especially when there are other collectors in your area. The constant disappointment is certainly not my favorite part of Pop hunting, since it can make the hunt feel like a waste of your energy which could be spend be productive.

The Timing

Timing is everything when it comes to Pop hunting, and it can be rather disappointing to miss out by minutes. When you arrive at a store asking for a specific Pop and the worker tells you someone else just snagged the last one- your heart sinks. You know if you had arrived just a few moments sooner then you would have scored your dream item. It can be a bit annoying to constantly be beat out by a faster Pop hunter. Many of us decide to get a little more aggressive when this happens, but getting up super early to be there when stores open can be an exhausting and sometimes impossible situation.

It Can Become Expensive

The expense can certainly start to weigh on any collector after a while. Constantly looking at your bank account dropping because there are too many Pops that you want being released all at the same time! It seems like Funko knows how to overwhelm us with awesome releases all at once. When they come out with a new series that you have to have, it can become pricey when that series has upwards of ten Pops in it. While one single Pop seems cheap enough, they add up over time- and any real collector can rarely grab just one!

Some Store Policies Are Absurd

While it can seem a bit whiny to complain about this, I’m going to do it anyways. Any collector knows how unbelievably frustrating some of the store policies can be. Many of these stores don’t really comprehend the best way to please their customers, and oftentimes they don’t really care. Many people have experienced discovering a Pop you desperately want, only to have the employee tell you it cannot be purchased. You get up to the checkout counter with your score in hand, and it is soon taken away from you. Somehow the item was placed on the shelf before the official release date, and because of that they refuse to sell it to you. This is definitely an annoying experience, and just one of the many absurd store policies that can leave a collector feeling frustrated.

While there are certainly many annoying parts of being a collector, there are also some exciting and awesome parts as well. Sometimes it is just healthy to vent about the frustrating side of things, in order to move forward and enjoy your hobby. When the venting is over it is best to enjoy the experience for what it is, and try to look at the positive side. Collecting is a fun and sometimes rewarding experience, and can be even more enjoyable when you share it with someone else.

Top 10 Most Expensive Disney Trading Pins

Top 10 Most Expensive Disney Trading Pins

Disney is a magical place, and anyone who appreciates it knows what an amazing experience visiting the parks can be. Disney is also popular with collectors, since they have so much excellent merchandise available to be purchased and enjoyed. Many Disney fans are also people who collect Funko Pop!s, since Funko offers so many well-crafted Disney figures. Disney has so many different collections, which can become quite the obsession for avid collectors.

Something exciting that is popular at the Disney parks is also Disney Trading Pins! Disney pin trading was introduced in 1999 as a part of the Millennium Celebration, and after that the obsession began to grow. The parks now offer many different pins, some of which are sold with a limited run. Something that is fun for kids (and adults alike) is that many of the cast members at Disney actually wear lanyards and offer trading to guests at the park. There are a fair set of rules that must be followed, but in most cases the cast members cannot deny a trader if they offered with a presentable pin to trade. This makes it a fun experience and exciting if you discover a cast member with a pin you desperately desire. It is meant to be an enjoyable experience, and not something aggressive or obnoxious.

While trading at the parks is truly enchanting, there are also many rare pins out there in existence. What is it that qualifies a pin as rare or hard to find? Well many of the rarest and most expensive pins are ones that were released for events with an extremely limited run. Some of these pins only have 200 in existence, and any collector knows just how small that number really is. There is really no exact method of figuring out the monetary value of a rare pin, since there is no page or website solely dedicated to pricing them out. The best way to figure out what they are selling for is to look through various resale sites recently sold listings.

The Disney Piece of History Pins- This set is extremely rare and some of them can sell for thousands of dollars! They are difficult to find but even harder to get your hands on, since the prices for one pin can be a few hundred dollars, some selling for thousands.

Steamboat Willie 50 Year Service Award Pin- This is awarded to cast member for 50 years of service and actually is supposed to include a diamond. This is extremely rare and has been seen selling for close to $5,000.

Expedition Pins- Dream Jeweled Mickey Mouse- This pin was an extremely limited release and includes real gemstones, making it very valuable. The original cost of this pin was released at $1295, making the likely cost even higher now. Sincere there were only 3 of this pin ever made, it is probably one of, if not THE rarest Disney pin out there!

Year of the Tiger Mystery Set Mushu- This pin was limited to 25 and is extremely rare! It is listed on selling sites for over $1,000, but is so rare it is hard to track the actual value.

Cast Member 45 Year Service Award Pin- This gorgeous golden pin features Walt Disney sitting with Mickey on his knee. It is only received by cast members and is extremely coveted. It sells for close to $1000 on some sites.

Ariel with Carousel Limit 100- This pin is rarely seen and can be seen listed for over $1000. While some pins have smaller numbers, this one seems to be harder to snag.

Dinsye Pin-tiquities Framed Set- The Figment Collection- The event Disney Pin Celebration 2009- The Museum of Pin-tiquities was a three day event held at Epcot. Events are some of the best ways to score truly rare and valuable Disney pins, and this was no different. This pin set now seems to sell for well over $300, and was limited to a run of only 75. It includes four adorable Figment pins in different framed settings.

Sorcerer Hats Mystery Pin Collection- Pirates of the Caribbean- Dog with Jail Keys (Gold)- This pin is limited to just 50 and seems to sell for between $70-$150 on listing sites.

Happy Haunts Ball 2004- Ghoulish Gatherings- Madam Mm Pin- This is limited to only 15 and is ultra rare! It is difficult to set a price on it, since there are few listing available. When pins are so limited it becomes rather hard to find them, and even harder to put a price value on them.

Error Pins- While Disney tries to make sure everything they create is done with the utmost care, some mistakes slip through the cracks. Error pins sometimes feature misspellings, or slight mistakes in their creation. Some of these pins are so rare that collectors actually want them, and they can sell for hundreds to thousands of dollars!

It is nearly impossible to place a value on some of these pins, but we do see them selling for some rather high price points. Disney pins are incredible desirable, and some of the smaller limit ones are difficult to snag. When there are only so many of them out there, the few people who possess them are lucky enough to set the market. Good luck searching for those rare pins!

While official pins can be truly valuable, there is also a vivid world of Disney fantasy pins. These are created with fan made art and can be truly phenomenal and even highly expensive pieces, but they cannot be traded in the parks since they are not officially made by Disney.

What Type of Funko Pop Collector Are You?

What Type of Funko Pop Collector Are You?

Each collector has their own way of enjoying their hobby, and some do this in rather different ways. Collecting has its own exciting appeal, but each collector has a unique way of procuring their Pop!s which makes the experience enjoyable for them. We’ve decided to name a few of the different archetypes of collectors, and describe how they like to partake in the whole collecting hobby.

The Aggressive Collector

While some people like to collect as a relaxing hobby, others take the experience very seriously. The Aggressive Collector is always out for the most intense hunt possible, and doesn’t let any get in their way. They are often seen as the enemy to more laid back collectors, since they aren’t afraid to push someone aside in order to get what they want. They are ready before the stores open, and will be prepared to wait for hours just to get their hands on their desired collectibles. While other people don’t want to rush ahead of the line, the Aggressive Collector isn’t afraid to look a bit foolish in order to get what they want. They have a competitive streak in their personality and are completely prepared to fight for what they want.

The Aggressive Collector knows when to arrive at what stores, and likely calls ahead to figure out when their item will arrive. They are always in pursuit of their next grail, and are eager to get what they want. They take their collecting experience very seriously, and know that the early bird gets the worm.

The Specialized Collector

The Specialized Collector only collects from very specific lines that they enjoy. They have likely been collecting for a long time, and have sold off a good portion of their collection. This person has gotten bored of branching out, and simply wants to narrow down their collection. They enjoy searching for a few specific lines that they like, and will only collect those items. They might enjoy Disney, or even Star Wars, but they want to narrow down their collection to those specific lines. They most likely enjoy keeping their Pop!s and other collectibles together in an organized fashion.

They appreciate collecting their favorite lines, and will often search for a long time in order to grab the ones they like the most. They will likely sell off some of their other items in order to purchase the more rare items that fit into their collection.

The Eclectic Collector

The Eclectic Collector (say that five times fast) likes to collect a little bit of everything. While some people only collect specific Funko lines, the Eclectic Collector (I just like saying it) enjoys whatever strikes their fancy in the moment. They often display their items in a way that doesn’t really seem all that organized to others, especially the more OCD style collectors. They will grab whatever they like, even if it isn’t something that would fit into their collection. Sometimes they find themselves excited by the hype of a new item, so they will be eager and happy to purchase it.

The Eclectic Collector enjoys branching out, and will purchase all kinds of different items. They might enjoy Pop!s for a moment, but then find themselves more intrigued by the mystery minis lines. They enjoy being able to grab whatever they like in the moment, whether it is valuable or monetarily worthless.

The Value Collector

This type of collector really only cares about the more rare and valuable collectibles. To them the items simply aren’t worth purchasing unless they hold a higher value. They want the most rare Pop!s and enjoy searching for the hard to find items. While some people simply collect what they personally enjoy, the Value Collector wants the collectibles that hold a much higher monetary value. This doesn’t mean they want these items to resell, they simply enjoy finding what is hard to snag. They like the thrill of holding onto an item that not many people seem lucky enough to find. There is something exciting about finding the rarest collectibles, and having a collection that is filled with Chase or grail Pop!s.

Some people scoff at the Value Collector, but it is simply another way of enjoying the hobby. They aren’t doing this in order to make money, they often keep these valuable items for a long time. They simply enjoy having a collection of the rarest and most difficult to acquire items. They find it exciting to have these collectibles that not many others are fortunate enough to possess.

The High Roller

The High Roller isn’t afraid to spend money in order to get the Pop!s or collectibles that they desire. While some people spend their time and energy searching for their collectibles, the High Roller prefers to purchase them from sellers. They often don’t have the time to go around hunting, or wait all morning for a store to open. Instead of spending their energy and hours hunting, they prefer to just spend their money.

When the High Roller wants a Pop! they will simply acquire it from a seller. They aren’t afraid to spend the cash on their favorite collectibles, and are willing to do so in order to get what they want. Their collections are often filled with the rarest and most amazing collectibles, making others salivate over it. The High Roller may not spend their time hunting, but they do spend their money. Their mail calls are always impressive and fill viewers with envy at the sight of them.

The Modest Collector

The Modest Collector doesn’t care about the value of their collectibles, and simply hunts for the ones they like. Instead of obsessing over the rarest new Pop!s they go after their favorites. They enjoy collecting certain lines, and will snag whatever they can at their local stores. They get lucky once in a while with a somewhat rare find, but only purchase it if they enjoy that line. They might not have a collection filled with the most valuable items, but they do have a collection of their favorites. They enjoy what they have and simply collect for the fun of it. They aren’t obsessed with the rarest items, but they will grab something special if they can.

The Hype Collector

The Hype Collector only grabs the items that are the most popular in that moment. They enjoy going after whichever Pop! or item that everyone is raving about. They get excited about the unique and new items, and often end up with far too many Pop!s in their collection. The Hype Collector gets caught up in the trends and the latest must have items. They enjoy being able to snag whichever item everyone else is talking about, and likes being able to flash their scores to other collectors.

These are some of the more specific types of collectors out there, with their own unique MO. We all have our own way of enjoying our hobby, some a little more aggressive about it than others. Sometimes it can be easy to judge how someone else enjoys their experience, but they are simply different than we are. The best way to make the most out of the experience is to not get hung up on how you should or should not collect. Whichever type of collector you are, just make sure to enjoy your hobby however best suites you. Good luck on your hunt folks, and keep on popping!

John Wick (Bloody)- Another chase version, the bloody John Wick has some amazing details. The way the blood is splattered on his face, actually looks almost identical to how it does in the movie. How incredible is this detail? We are certainly in love with how much time they took to ensure that this POP came out as badass as the character from the films.

Aughra- The Dark Crystal POPs are actually some of the most intricate POPs ever made. Funko creators certainly put a lot of energy into ensuring that no detail was left out of these figures. This is one of our favorites simply because of the effort and time that must have been put into making it so magnificent.

Demogorgon (Common and Chase)- The Demogorgon monster from Stranger Things, is definitely one of the more detailed POPs created. Both the chase and regular version have a great deal of intricacies that make them incredibly well made POPs.

Frodo Baggins (Cursed)- The chase version of this Frodo POP has some incredible details, especially around the eyes. It is a well colored POP, and is one of the best ones created. Funko is certainly stepping up their game when it comes to putting detail into their POPs.

Ghost Rider (Glow in the Dark)- This Ghost Rider POP has some absolutely awe-inspiring details. Not only does it glow in the dark, it also is perfectly crafted so that the glowing elements don’t obstruct the original detail of the POP. This is certainly one of the most well made POPs, which explains why it is so pricey.

Which POPs do you wish had made this list? Let us know which are your all-time favorite and most detailed Funko POPs ever!

The Best Places to Trade Your POPs

For POP collectors, trading can actually be an excellent way to acquire the collectibles that you desire. Some of the older POPs can be rather difficult to find, and might even be on the pricey side. Trading with other collectors can be a great way to get what you want, and to also give someone else what they want. Instead of having to purchase your wanted item at a higher price, you can trade your valuable POP in exchange for someone else’s.

The Best Places to Trade

Now that you realize you want to trade some of your POPs, finding the right place is your next step. A great way to begin trading is by joining some of the Facebook groups. There are various groups on Facebook that have built great communities for trading, buying and selling your Funko items.

Start by joining some local groups, since most places have smaller groups in your area for this. Then you can branch out and join some of the larger groups. When you join a larger group for trading, you are likely going to have to ship your POP, instead of just do a local meetup. This can be a bit more difficult, but is still completely doable. Facebook groups provide a great place to get to know other collectors, and to even keep track of some new POPs that are coming out.

Craigslist can also be a good place to trade your Funko POPs. Try posting photos of the POPs you want to trade or sell, and also post an ISO (in search of) list, stating which POPs you are looking for. This is great because it is done locally, and you won’t have to ship your POP or worry about the added hassle of potential scammers. Just make sure to always be safe with your local meetups, and find a place to trade that is not too private or risky.

Conventions and events can also be great places to trade with other collectors. Not all conventions allow this, so you need to look into the rules beforehand. There are some places that actually hold local events specifically for POP trading, a good way to find these places are in the various Facebook groups. There are occasionally events held where you can bring in your POPs that you want to trade, and other collectors will do the same thing. It is also a great way to get to know some other collectors, since you share the same passion. Some comic book stores actually host trade events, which gives you a chance to swap your POPs.

Reddit can also be a good location to find other individuals looking to trade. You often have to sift through the potential scammers, and always request the appropriate photos and information. You can also find local people here, which can be a much easier way to trade.

How to Trade Safely

Trading can sometimes carry a risk of getting scammed by less upstanding individuals. It is important to take precautions in order to avoid losing your POPs to a scammer. If you have to ship your items to one another, there are certain steps that should be taken.

First, you want to make sure that the other individuals you are trading with shows the appropriate photos of their POPs. They should have a card next to the POP that states the current date and their name. It can also be helpful to ask them for photos of the POP next to them, or next to a household item. It isn’t a sure way to be safe, but it is a step in ensuring that you do not get scammed.

Next, you can check the various Facebook groups to see if that person has done any trades or sales with other people. Once you find their trade history, you can communicate with some of the people they have traded with. This is often a great way to get more information on the trader, and find out if they have had successful trades or sales with other people. Someone who has done zero trades, and seems extremely hesitant to ease your worry- is often (but not always) a scammer. Don’t be afraid to ask for security, since no one deserves to be taken advantage of, even over a collectible.

When purchasing POPs you should always use PayPal good and services, since you will get your money returned if the person does not send their item. Taking these precautions are important steps in ensuring that the POP collecting community stays safe and positive.

How to Package Your POP

It is also important as a trader or seller, to ensure that the item you are shipping does not get damaged. Always take care to package your POP safely, and with enough bubble wrap or packing materials to protect it against damage. Over packing can also cause problems, so make sure your item is snuggly wrapped, but not too tightly.

Now that you know the best places to trade, you can take the next steps in finding your grails. POP collecting is a fun experience, but trading can be even more exciting. There is nothing more satisfying than helping someone else to get the POP they want, while also receiving what you want in return.

Good luck hunting Funko collectors!
