7 Things Only Disney Fans Will Truly Understand
7 Things Only Disney Fans Will Truly Understand
Being a Disney fan can be a rewarding and sometimes even frustrating experience. When you are an obsessive Disneyphile there are many different things that come with the territory. Sometimes your love makes you very happy, especially when you get the chance to immerse yourself in the magic of Disney. There are other times when you experience things in a way that some of your non-Disney friends just don’t completely understand or appreciate. There is nothing better than having people around you who share the obsession, but sometimes we are drawn to those who are different than others. At times it can be frustrating when others just don’t fully get what you are going through. Here are a few things that only true Disney fans will understand and appreciate.
Wanting Just One More
It always seems like when you are a Disney fan you end up wanting to collect certain things that go along with your obsession. Whether you are wanting to finish your movie collection, your Pop collection, or your pin collection, it never seems to be enough. True Disney fans always feel like they want just one more item, even when you’re living on a budget. Just one more and you will feel sated with your love this week, but that one more never seems to end. You always want to get your hands on that one last item, especially if it is something that is limited edition. Sometimes we try to snag the more difficult items first, but there always seems to be this urgency with collectors. We want to make sure we get our favorite pieces before it is too late and they run out of supply.
Collecting is something that can be frustrating something, especially for the Disney collectors. There is nothing worse than missing out on something we needed for our collection, simply because we thought we would get the chance later on. This can sometimes cause us to jump on these limited items, making it challenging to really keep up.
Spending All of Your Money
As a Disney fan we know there are so many different items to purchase and collect. We want Disney clothing, accessories, collectibles and of course the actual Disney vacations. Any Disney fan who has made it to the most magical place on earth, knows just how expensive this can get. The airfare, the park tickets, the hotels, the food, the merchandise- it can get overwhelming. When you are a Disney lover you often have people looking at you like you are absolutely insane, but you just don’t care. The money is well worth it for us fans, even though we might be eating ramen noodles for a while after the trip. The experiences are something we never let go of, and they stay with us forever. Just being able to enjoy that atmosphere gives you this uplifting feeling which takes you soaring.
People Asking You Why You Want to Go Back to Disney
When you are someone who likes to make multiple trips to your favorite Disney parks, people often have a lot to say about it. The people who don’t fully understand will ask you questions like, “you just went to Disney, why would you want to go back for your vacation?” They don’t fully understand that a true Disney fan would go as often as they can. We seem crazy to those people, we seem like we are wasting our money on a trip that isn’t that big of a deal. In truth Disney is always different, each experience we share there is unique to that time. Plus the fact that Disney changes and they are always trying to add new things to the parks.
Sore Feet
When you do attend the parks you completely understand the pain of having truly sore feet. Without actually experiencing this it seems like an exaggeration, but Disney fans understand. Not only do your feet end up covered in blisters, they ache in ways you never thought possible. Plus the rest of your body aches as well, but honestly it is well worth the pain. The only people who seem to survive this agony are the ones in amazing physical shape, even then you’d have to be a marathon runner to truly get through unscathed.
Having People Get Sick of Your References
When you are a Disney fan you often want to reference your favorite movies a bit too often. People around you can get sick of you comparing them to “cartoon” characters, and frankly they’re sick of the constant references to all things Disney. As a fan you might start to keep these thoughts to yourself so that you can avoid upsetting or annoying your non-Disney friends. It’s nice when you get around other Disney obsessed people, since not only do they understand your references, they actually appreciate them!
The Desire to Listen to Disney Music in the Car
You often get an urge to listen to your Disney music while driving, but your companions might not be so into it. This urge is something that you might only get to really enjoy while alone, but then no one gets to hear you joyful Disney singing. There are also times when you just want to burst into song because someone makes a comment that includes a Disney lyic. There is nothing more rewarding than having someone who actually want to sing along, and who knows the words perfectly.
You Can Get Heated When People Insult Your Favorite Characters
There are times when people who do not appreciate Disney have misinformed ideas about the characters. They make references suggesting that Disney sets bad examples, but as a true fan you know this to be completely untrue. You realize that Disney does quite the opposite, it is something that has gotten you through some of the darkest times in your life. Disney has taught you how to be a better person, and has shown you the person you can become. Having Disney in your life can make you get a bit heated though, especially when people won’t stop attacking it. You get especially annoyed when someone calls Disney “children’s films,” and acts like it is only for kids. These people clearly have not heard the many inappropriate jokes hidden within a Disney film.
